Xenophenes

Xenophenes, or more commonly "Xeno," is a bit of a loner. He doesn't talk much, if at all, but he constantly mumbles to his familiar. He knows all this random knowledge about plants and animals and the natural world, especially historical facts. He has a particular liking for puzzles and wears his choice of apparel because he likes observing the reactions people have to him. It's an unfortunate consequence that the girls find him mysteriously attractive and cool. He just tries to ignore them. The biggest puzzle he's found so far is what his pearl says about him. He's not one for philosophy, but psychology is 100% his thing.

He's secretly a mother hen to those he cares about, but his fascination with provoking reactions overrides that most of the time.

His liking for high places and quiet often leads him to cliffs or trees overlooking a body of water. One stormy day he was observing lightning flashes over the ocean when a darting creature caught his attention. The Lightning Sprite had been attracted to the familiar energy in the storm and had started flying into the clouds. Unfortunately for the young sprite, it hadn't yet developed any resistance to outside sources of electricity yet, so any stray lightning bolts that hit it would probably fry the nervous system and the sprite would die. Having noticed the immaturity of the sprite, Xeno snatched it up before it could get too close and gave it a thorough scolding. Abashed, frightened, and grateful, the sprite stuck with him, and though Xeno will never admit it, he enjoys her company.

A bonus is that she, like her element, is very feisty and mercurial, which helps in fending off weird fangirls.
