Biography

xxxxxOne of the few true Pod's Garden natives, Springle was born and raised in the town. Although given lessons in magic and natural studies by Pod, he didn't have an aptitude for magic and instead became interested in studying the many kinds of insects in the Garden. He finds them fascinating in every way, from their intricate and somewhat secret relationship with magic to their culinary possibilities. xxxxxSome bugs, he will tell you, are incredibly tasty, and some! are incredibly!! poisonous!!! Isn't that interesting!!! Not every bug is for eating, anyway (Pod is an insectivore, too, but there is an unspoken moratorium in Pod's Garden on eating Pod's pollinators.) The most commonly eaten bugs are pests. For instance, caterpillars are mostly fair game (SOME ARE POISONOUS!!! DO NOT EAT!! Look at those fuzzy spikes though, isn't it gorgeous), but butterflies usually aren't eaten. Other options: Leafhoppers (tasty!!), aphids (tiny and sweet), weevils (crunchy!), and fruit maggots (fry them!! delicious), among others. xxxxxWhile hard to pin down to one activity, Springle often receives grants from interested parties within and outside of the Pod's Garden province to study things like investment opportunities involving magically-enhanced silkworms and agricultural insect stock, as well as more purely scientific pursuits. More generally, he monitors the insects within the province, which is, he will tell you a VERY. IMPORTANT. JOB. He also enjoys collecting insects and has more than a few interesting specimens kept as pets. xxxxxAlong with the often-times oversized bug pets, he shares his home with his closest friend Cricket, at least when the ghost hunter isn't out doing his job. The irony of Cricket's name is almost always funny to Springle when someone points it out; less so to Cricket. |
