Sha'uri is focused and practical. She does not smile much, but she is not as aloof as she appears. Sha'uri has a strong sense of duty, and she's very protective not only of her charge, but of her clan. While Mulligan will bring in a dragon out of kindness, Sha'uri will take them in out of duty. She is a protector, and while her main priority is her charge, she will guard the rest of her clan with nearly equal tenacity. Tradition states that Guardians leave their clans when they reach adulthood to seek out a worthy charge. Sha'uri wandered long and far searching Sornieth for her charge before wandering back through the Windswept Plateau where she began and finally, almost literally, stumbling upon it. Frustrated beyond all measure with the length of her Search, the young dragon stormed across the plateau in search of shelter for the evening. In her stomping, Sha'uri came across a large hole in the ground, nearly stepping in it. She peered at the crater for several long seconds. Then, without any kind of warning, dirt began spraying up out of it in absolutely hectic quantities. Sha'uri stumbled back, snorting and shaking her head, trying to scrape the soil out of her eyes. When she could see again, she looked back to the accursed pit and could not help but tip her head. A purple, scruffy-looking Tundra poked his head out of the hole, sniffing curiously. Dirt was piled on his snout, and it sprinkled off as he jerked his head about, looking for the source of the smell. Finally his eyes lighted on her, and he tipped his head too, sending the last of the soil sliding back to the earth. Suddenly he smiled at her, letting the expression take up his entire face, and bounded out to meet her, still snuffling. "Greetings, protector! What brings a protector to Mulligan's home?" Sha'uri blinked at him. My, but he did speak funny. She tore her eyes away from the dirt-covered fluff long enough to look back to his hole in the ground. "Home?" He nodded excitedly, goofy grin still firmly in place. "Soon to be!” He looked up at the sky, tilting his head again. Then he looked back to her. “It is getting late. Come! The protector can shelter here with Mulligan.” Sha'uri had nowhere else to go, and she hadn't the patience left to continue sniffing out her charge tomorrow, so she stayed for a while with Mulligan. In fact, she stayed with him for several weeks, helping him build his burrow, and it did not hit her until it was finished that her charge had sniffed her out with dirt piled on his snout. Her funny little charge eventually became her mate, and she is content. He can be hard to keep focused, but he makes her grin. She watches him play and dig, and, though she was never fond of it herself, she let's him cuddle underneath her chin, and she's decided that it, perhaps, isn't all that bad. |
