As many dragons do, Mirage left his clan of birth when he came of age; as some of those many do, rather than go to serve his god, he struck out on his own in pursuit of mortal ambitions.
He had been looking for a place to raise his own lair and forge. What he found was the remnants of a shattered clan from the west, former followers of the Windsinger gone apostate after a love for freedom and adventure had failed to unite them long enough to hold their own against Beastclan attack. Tell us about your god, a stern-looking Imperial had said. So he did; and when he had, the motley of weary dragons looked between each other and nodded. Though their faith in the Wind had waned, they had lived with its spirit long enough to understand the virtue of an opportunity quickly taken. This was not their home - but it could be. - September 2014 Mirage is an industrious dragon that did well to be born into the Fire Flight. His furnace and forge lie at the heart of the clan's lair (affectionately dubbed the Black Bellows for the air-funneling and -venting properties Naia's architecture endowed it with), and there he spends most of his time, creating art and craft alike. He communicates with his clanmates mostly via writing, which solves both the problems of his aural anatomy and the noise present in his workshop in one fell swoop. Thanks to how common these scrawled back-and-forth messages are, the dragons of the Black Bellows have developed a unique, artistic shorthand that only those within the lair can decipher. Though he has problems understanding his clanmates (not to mention the faes), they don't have quite as much of a problem deciphering his accent - the Windclan had a wide variety of coatl members before its dissolution. Mirage is not a strong flyer or a very athletic dragon in general. Being the leader of a clan that shares their hunts with him and carries goods in and out of the lair suits him just fine, and leaves him plenty of time to perfect his work. His closest friends within the lair are Lucky and Arc, who are similarly introverted but blunt enough to approach him first for conversation. |
