Biography
Vincent Valentine is a former elite bodyguard/spy. He lurks on the outskirts, always watching but preferring not to get involved. Gwyneth is one of the few who know that he is here because of Sephiroth, though even she knows not why the proud warrior is so fascinating to the Imperial. She is grateful to have him around, though, as Vincent is incredibly strong, accurate with flinging deadly spells at long distances. When out of magic, Vincent is still immensely powerful, able to carve up dragons with his golden clawed arm and his flesh one alike. When angered, or badly beaten, Vincent disappears. Nobody knows for sure where he goes, or what he does, but Destino has shown a remarkable fear of him. He tells nobody what he's seen, however, and nobody dares to bring it up around Vincent.
Rumors abound that Vincent is a vampire; his moodiness, red eyes, general antisociality, and dislike of the sunlight do not help this. However, he has proven that he can go outside in the daylight; he simply dislikes it due to his highly sensitive eyes (sleeping in a coffin for half of his life did not help this). He and his Duskrat familiar tend to be the most active during twilight, and the massive dragon can often be seen perched like a gargoyle on top of the highest structure around, keeping watch with red eyes that seem to hold chaos within them. Though he wears heavy golden boots, his tread is silent. His tattered red cape is always pulled around his shoulders.
His Duskrat familiar was with him when the Army found him in the coffin. Vincent has mentioned before that the Duskrat is named Veld, after an old friend of his. He never says anything else about who Veld was to him.
A particularly savage Pronghorn Stomper can sometimes be seen with him. The Pronhorn Stomper, which he calls the Galian Beast, is very protective of Vincent, but does not attack dragons without Vincent's command.
