B I O G R A P H Y

Main Theme: Taertarus' theme.

______ She came to the clan as a hatchling, brought in by the then-matriarch Todoroki. Most of them laughed, for how could a tiny Iceling survive in the wild and harsh lands of the Scarred Wasteland? They dismissed the child nearly immediately, but Todoroki had faith that she would survive. Taertarus was treated with contempt by nearly everyone in her small family; she fed last, she was ignored during social events... She was left to fend for herself. Her sharp eyes caught the love and Plague care that other hatchlings received from their families with envy. Todoroki was the only dragon that showed her any relative care, and that was simply keeping an eye on her and making sure she didn't starve completely, or tending to wounds that wouldn't heal on their own.

______ Looking back, Taertarus could see that nearly any other dragon in her situation would have perished, would have failed in their Mother's Favor. But instead, she thrived. She took her pain, her loneliness, her utter rejection from her adopted clan and ignited it with a poisonous flame. Taertarus surpassed everyone's expectations, even Todoroki's, by not only surviving, but thriving. The obsidian dragoness bested every match, grew from each hardship, flourished in all adversity. Her hunts produced the most, her prayers the most accurate results, her pelt the most scars. To everyone's shock, the little foreign hatchling had grown into a strong dragon blessed with the most favor they had ever seen in anyone's lifetime.

______ Her strength soon turned the clan's opinion of her into one of favor and admiration. Those that had shunned Taertarus and sabotaged her survival now simpered and sidled up to her in an effort to gain a piece of her strength. She rose in esteem and praise until the only dragon more respected than she was her original savior, Todoroki. Eventually, however, Taertarus began to eye Todoroki's power with distaste and anger.

______ Why should she be the matriarch of the clan? Why, when Taertarus was blessed by the Mother Herself, was stronger, faster, and ten times more savage than any other in the clan?
