Biography

Foaliel
Matriarch
'Until that moment she had never thought she could do it. Never thought she would be brave enough or scared enough, or desperate enough to dare.'

yP7jXvU.png
Ice Runestone Being a strong, reliable and respected leader, who inspires trust and loyalty in her clan, is Foaliel's strongest desire. She considers herself a prime example of a Nocturne, and strives to keep the beauty and dignity in her race apparent in the company she allows to live under her care.

She sought out a desirable mate for many years, continuously rebuking the advances of the rogue, Tendiou. However, his persistence, and liveliness eventually warmed her soul. There were times where only he could bring a smile to her lips, and she felt comforted in his presence. She now considers him her life long friend, mate and confidant. If only he weren't so attached to that ridiculous hat.

Foaliel & Tendiou

55307p.png
Where Foaliel's day is filled with business disputes, clan management and trade, Tendiou can be found lounging on the cliffside, eating fruits and cakes. Ruling a clan is exhausting and many find Foaliels selection of her mate, who contributes none to the day to day management of the clan leadership, perplexing. However, they never ask as since she selected Tendiou as her choice , each day she arrives at court with a fresh mind and attitude. Long gone are the days of stressful endless meetings, Foaliel handles the management of the clan with a steadfast and even claw. Tendiou leaves her each morning with a loving caress, before he proudly watches her set off with purpose in her step.

Offspring from this pair are raised from a young age to understand the ins and outs of leading a clan; but while their mother instructs them on their responsibilities, their father teaches them about the world, the importance of having an open mind, and the value of love and affection. They are typically well balanced, but may also be stubborn.

Enchanted

Nocturnal Dust The annual celebration for Night of the Nocturne had arrived, and Foaliel found herself once again ignoring the festivities, preferring to instead polish her pearl again. It gleamed with a light blue hue, and with notable Pearlcatcher pride, she inspected its perfection with one sharp claw. The glittering gem was her joy, and she carefully placed it back into its luxuriously lined pouch. The small clan she was leading, along with her mate Tendiou, and her steadfast council Foayasha, had been preparing for the celebration. She herself was disinterested however, too busy preening herself and patting herself on the back for her various clever leadership moves.

Earlier in the year, she had moved her small faction to the cleanest, most pristine lair location available in the Cloudscape Crags. The space offered a large communion hall and plenty of locations for bathing and cleaning supplies. She could see no wrong. Her clansmen however were not as pleased; the overall space was small and cramped, much of the living spaces were moved to make way for utility rooms. Despite having the whitest walls, there were no views of the Icefields, and foraging was difficult due to the lower flanked hills and forest. This was a case of style over substance, and Foaliel was absolutely not deterred by a few complaints.

Tendiou was too busy fidgeting with his fez to offer any opinions on the matter.

The evening sky had opened, flooding the lair with starlight, and she was pleased with the glimmering facade of her crystalline lair. Outside the sky was smattered with small silhouettes of travelings drakes, heading to the celebratory fields in her land. Here they would welcome the coming Nocturnes from their hibernation. The first evenings of the celebration would be calm, not many would travel far enough to reach the Icewardens dominion, but by the fifth night the skies would be full, and the world would stop its fighting to welcome their brethren from their slumber.

Slowly following behind the small clan, Foaliel paid most attention to her pearl pouch, sighing in admiration at its moonlit gleam. Due to this, however, she bumped into a branch, and with a dip on her wing, she lost hold of her pearl; its glittering appearance dimmed while it fell to the forest floor below. With a shriek of panic, she broke ranks and swiftly flew down into the Boreal Wood, unheeded of the dangers.

She had heard of this place from her Guard, and their many adventures to claim riches and sustenance for the clan; this was a dangerous place for a Pearlcatcher like herself, who had never trained on her own, typically following behind the more advanced fighters. She attempted to quiet herself, walking along a darkened path, made by some beast or dragon she was unaware and began to feel panic at the idea of being alone in such a place. She heard the creak of a branch, and shrunk in on herself in fear; wide eyes fixating on the location of the noise.

She waited.

Nothing approached her or came bursting out from the forest darkness, and she then realized she had backed herself directly into a mud puddle and groaned. Her white flank now painted with brown splotches of what she hoped was mud. With a heavy sigh, she decided to focus on the task at hand, and locate her pearl - First Priority!

The crack at the edge of the forest tree bank came once more and she shivered. Again… the branches swayed, and there was no denying that something was approaching. Hunkering down once more, she shuddered in anticipation and fear of what beast may be stalking her. Tones of the forest seemed to halt, and silence enveloped Foaliel as she stared into a black abyss beyond the trees. Frozen in fear, she stared… and then another creak occurred, but this time from behind her! She turned in a swift motion but nothing had arrived. Paranoid and frightful, she looked around for a defensive weapon before she remembered that she did have frightful teeth of her own!

In the middle of this forest path, a muddied, growling, frazzled, and frightened Pearlcatcher looked from left to right, waiting for the moment to strike at an unknown opponent.

And then it came… tumbling out of the forest in a ball of energy Tendiou appeared, slowly followed by Foayasha.

Foaliel breathed the deepest sigh of relief, and grabbed the neck of Tendiou and hugged him closely; perhaps too closely as he began to gasp for breath, his coils beginning to wrap around her submissively. She released him and smiled.

Together the group was determined to locate the pearl, and with focus they began to search. Now that the group was larger and more defensible, Foaliel felt more comfortable. She did not notice the white blur which was slowly circling the group.

In the brush off to the side of the path she saw a glint of blue, and felt her heart jump as she ran to the location. Bending down she blindly patted around the area which she thought she noticed the glimmer, and was rewarded with the soft familiarity of her pouch. As she arose, she was surprised to come nose to nose with another drake.

A beautiful white Nocturne, eyeing her with curiosity.

They did not speak, but as Foaliel moved, the Nocturne did as well, mirroring her motions, and effectively blocking her from returning to her previous path. Awkwardly she gave a half-hearted chuckle as she attempted to move past the drake in her path. However, this did not give way.

Her new companion gave her a steely glance, and suddenly she was frozen. Unknowing of the magic that was in use, the Nocturnes eyes began to illuminate, and Foaliel was entranced by the gleaming blue hue. These two pearls focused upon her, and she happily complied to eagerly look upon them. The Nocturne looked back at Tendiou who was burstling about on the opposite side of the forest path, unaware of her or the effect that she had on his mate.

For a moment the nocturnes gaze locked onto him, and then soon after she returned her gaze to Foaliel. She approached closely to her, and soon her appearance began to fade. A ghostly form of the dragon who was before her, passed through her.

And as if nothing had occurred, the drake was gone, and her path was unhindered. She stood still for a moment. Unsure of what had just occurred, allowing the moment to settle in her mind. However, a moment later she caught her eye on her pearl, and clutched it and felt her normal self again.

She returned to her partners, and happily, they gathered together and left the Wood seemingly unscathed.

Later that evening, returned to her den, Foaliel was surprised to find Foayasha had selected her for sleep, and she felt sadness envelop her. However, she noticed that Foayasha had selected everyone to sleep. The entire lair… as if they would all be resting for an undetermined amount of time.

As she felt her body raise to the ethereal den, unfamiliar magic enveloped her… she couldn’t tell what was different, but she knew that she was not the same. She looked to Tendiou for comfort but did not locate him. Only a white nocturne male was near her Den chamber, wearing that fez…

Below, the observer Foayasha, allowed her new Nocturne Leaders to take a long rest, while she prepared the clan for its next move. How long would they be sleeping? She was not sure, but a new chapter for the clan was about to reveal itself.
