Lycaeides is the local schoolmaster, rearing and educating the clan hatchlings; Karner is a Representative of the Ice Warden (unofficially), and his calls throughout the day were a disruption to the class. One afternoon, after a rather loud call to arms for the Ice Warden caused half of the class to exit and parade after Karner through the lair halls, Lycaeides submitted a formal complaint against the Pearlcatcher. Now, it is discouraged to hollar during schooling hours, and obvious sleeping hours as well, so Karner found himself without much to do. Enter Karner, pupil, sitting at the back of the schoolroom, much to Lycaeides dismay. Students like to tease the odd couple, much to the Skydancers embarrassment; especially when their teasing proved to be correct! ‘Karner and Lycaeides sitting in a tree’, indeed!! Offspring of this pairing are educated and well behaved; they may also enjoy running through the halls singing songs about the Icewarden.
