dahlia

was once the second in command of a nature clan hidden deep in the shrieking wilds. though the clan itself saw little strife, its tepid peace was splintered after the day the clan's leader, aconite, disappeared into the jungle and returned bloodied and strange. where ae had once been talkative and affectionate, ae was now quiet enough that aer sudden presence often startled clan members. it was soon apparent that aer had abandoned entirely aer role as leader, and dahlia found himself in charge of a clan he had never asked to lead.
desperate for answers, dahlia confronted aconite about aer strange behavior a week after aer return; the worst mistake they would ever make. as they lay dying, they dreamt of a fading desert sunset and something in the shape of a dragon that made them a deal they no longer remembered the terms of. woke up beneath the earth, scales washed out to a sea green, having been given another chance to live in exchange for fealty to something that called itself a god.
