Dearest Parents, Greetings from The Viridian Labyrinth! I write this letter in the dark of a star filled night in my den high up in a tree that gets plenty of light from the sun. i must say, i was deathly scared to leave the warmth of Light, and your embrace, and nervous that i would stand out like a stray fang! But Willow, the leader of the clan you sent me to, made me feel right at home! She's the guardian of a great big Willow tree, and it is quite beautiful! Her hatchling, Grover, is quite friendly, and we became really good friends! (He's going to be a Guardian of a whole GROVE of trees when he grows up! That's a LOT of... Guarding!) Also, as it turns out, i'm not the only outsider! Willow also adopted two other hatchlings! One is another Guardian Dragon named Ebony from the Scarred Wastelands. She's kinda mean sometimes and kinda scary looking (But in a cool and pretty way) , and spends most of her time next to an ebony tree, but i think she's just scared of all the new surroundings, and the fact she's in the land her god dragon hates. we might good friends if i try hard enough! The other is an Imperial Dragon from The Windswept Plateau that has gems like me! He shimmers and shines like the sun! He doesn't have a name yet, so in the morning, The other hatchlings and i are going to help Willow and her mate, River, pick one! I'm both excited and nervous of the adventures i'll have in this beautiful, green land. I miss and think of you every day my dearest parents. Rune was found out alone as a hatchling and taken in by the clan. She grew close to the clan's fairly solitary witch and herbalist Enid, and eventually became her apprentice when she was old enough, even though she's very clumsy and energetic. No one can identify what it's doing there, but when it is brought in, the bag is discovered to have a letter, addressed "To: Sunrunner and Lreisa." It is swiftly delivered to their claws. Kaynor wrote on Intact_Parchment: Dearest Mother and Father; I write to you from across our globe- I have found, after many weeks of travel, a clan of the most curious nature. They, Ah. I should say their leader, a Mr. Higgs, found me in their woods not long after my arrival in this wondrous land. The queer fellow did not cease chattering all the while, and without my realizing it, he had brought me back to his own home, set deep in a cavern in a cliff face. I wish you to know that I am well. While I do not mean to stay in this cave for too long, I will be more than able to handle myself in these lands. It is not nearly so harsh as the land you live in; I do not yet know if I am homesick, simply for not missing the arid and coarse landscape of unending thunder. I did so hate the noise. Ah. I just realized halfway down this parchment how absurdly old-fashioned I sound. You'll have to forgive me, I've been in the company of this fellow, Raphael. He is a... We shall call him odd, yes. An odd shadow dragon, one who believes himself a prophet of the Lightweaver; I fear I have adopted his speech manners into my own. The letter takes an abrupt turn in tone. The writing becomes faster, the shapes of one who feels a pounding in their ears, and who becomes ever so shaky as a dreadful thought lodges itself in the head. Kaynor wrote on Intact_Parchment: A few of these dragons seem almost spectre-like, which seems to me quite eerie. It is an uncomfortable feeling, when the person you speak to may only be a dream... I cannot stay here for long. I'll be leaving on the night I send this to you, and my hope is that I am not followed by the dragons that seem half not to be there at all. I suppose it sounds silly, doesn't it? Terribly silly. To be afraid that dragons of flesh and blood would be ghosts or threats of a supernatural kind. It should feel silly. It does feel silly, and somehow I cannot shake the sense that some of these people are from worlds and times that aren't our own. I should not be so superstitious. Mother, father; I will write to you soon, when I am safely in the Arcanist's Observatory. I've sent one of this clan's enchanted dolls with the note. Quite a brilliant idea, though I'm sure our engineers could make a better delivery system. Hopefully I can convince some of these Arcanites to adopt a more technological system of storing data, they all seem convinced of the power of scrolls. But enough of that.
