Biography

Amaltea
Light Ambassador, ball of anxiety, Very Important Dragon

There are multiple important dragons in the lair, but nobody seems to be quite as influential as Amaltea is. Her innate charisma and the confidence she carries herself with seem to be enough to lead most dragons to trust her judgement, but even when her abilities and knowledge are tested, she never fails to meet everyone's expectations - abundantly so. On the rare occasions when Amaltea doesn't know how to face a situation, rather than torment herself over it, she keeps a cool mind and collects the information she needs to move forward. This apparent innate ability to handle even the hardest situations is a major reason why, other than taking care of the relationship between Janus Ashes and the Light Flight, she is the dragon who can solve arguments inside the Clan with most ease.
Despite her popularity, Amaltea has few real friends, and those are the ones who know about her real personality. Amaltea is actually very sensitive and insecure, and feels constant pressure because of everyone's expectations. Her hard work and dedication, along with her love for her home, are what allowed her to become so knowledgeable and versatile, but she also lives in fear of failure at all times and tends to be quite sensitive to rejection. She rarely, if ever, shows this side of herself, because she fears that other dragons might not trust her as much if they see her weaknesses.
Her younger adoptive sister Danra is also her best friend and the dragon she trusts the most. Amaltea finds the most emotional support in her and feels like they can understand each other like no other.

Amaltea was born at the end of the Brightshine Jubilee, right before the Shadow Flight rose to dominance - a peculiar time that Entarge believes influenced the colors she was born with.
Instead of being raised by Shealka or Tafeirinmen as most hatchlings, Iboe and Keridwyn took her under their protective wings. As the oldest dragons in the lair at the time, they were worried about the Clan's future because of the lack of organization, so they did their best raising her with a sense of responsibility and duty.
As it turned out, Amaltea was an excellent student and absorbed their teachings very well. She was soon noticed by the other dragons in the lair for her wits and her sense of justice, being considered by most as a promising princess at first, and a precious and reliable guide later on. This led Amaltea to believe that the admiration of other dragons towards her was vital - a dangerous idea that would reveal itself to be very hard to uproot.
When the Quadrumviratum was established in the lair, Amaltea had good hopes for it to work: she knew that the lair needed stability and reliable leaders more than anything and she was ready to support the new system as much as she could. What she didn't expect was to see the leadership of the Guardians to become gradually more and more oppressive towards the other breeds. Many dragons would rather share their needs and troubles with her than with anyone else. As impossible as it looked, Amaltea found herself with even more pressure from the outside, with dragons desperate for guidance and hope, and even a part of the lair wanting her to take over and become the new leader.
With the arrival of Fereneel in the lair and her rise to power, Amaltea realized that things were changing for the better. Rather than becoming a leader herself (which would have probably made things messier inside the Clan), she supported the new Fire Guardian as much as she could, seeing in her the right potential that the clan desperately needed. Fereneel, on the other hand, decided to let Amaltea become the new Light Ambassador of Janus Ashes.
When Danra was born, some time later, Amaltea wanted her childhood to be a happy one. She insisted for the little Fae to be raised with the other hatchlings in the lair without any special treatment, and took care of her like a little sister. The two ended up sharing duties as Flight representatives, and Amaltea couldn wish for a better friend.
