The Shield
The brawn of the Clan Gifted on June 4nd, 2015 - thank-you, DawnSky! When this young Guardian arrived from a neighbouring Clan, he hoped to find his Charge quickly. Although the Search hadn't stirred him forward nearly as strongly as Ashlesha, Sagittarius still felt an emptiness in his chest, something missing from his life. Although he had promised his parents that he would behave in this new Clan, he was unable to concentrate for very long on the tasks Aurora gave him. The need to know what his Charge was was distressing, even though his pull did not lead him anywhere past the willow. Clearly this meant his Charge was nearby...? Orion was the only dragon who seemed able to calm Sagittarius and bring him back to earth. Finally able to concentrate on his tasks with the Tundra by his side, Sagittarius settled into the Clan's day-to-day routines, and Aurora was no longer snapping at him or murmuring curses under her breath. Life became easier. |

Then one day, the two were at the beach below the cliffs. Orion was looking through some of constellation books that Neva had given him. Sagittarius, who had been playing in the seaside, suddenly felt a fluttering in his chest. |

It was faint at first, but quickly grew to a pounding that shook his senses and frightened him. Splashing madly, he slipped and almost drowned. Orion was quick to bring Sagittarius to shore - the much smaller Tundra, pelt soaking and growing heavy with the water, dragging the growing Guardian away from danger. While the Guardian caught his breath, Orion shoved the books away so they wouldn't get wet. That was when Sagittarius' caught a glimpse of a painting in the book and his vision cleared: It was a depiction of the Archer's constellation. Oh, to have searched for this long and finally found his Charge... the one whom he had seen in the nightsky every evening, who was his namesake. The stars were his Charge. |
