Cunning and cold, Persephone is exquisitely sensitive to the emotions and thoughts of other beings. She wields her empathetic sensibilities with subtlety and precision. Those on whom she acts scarcely realize how effectively they have been manipulated. While Skydancers are often thought a gentle and nurturing race, Persephone turns her natural talents towards dominating the wills of others.

Royal blood courses through her veins, blood with power that enables her to sense the whorls and eddies of magic many leagues distant. Persephone is driven to expand her territory and exert her control, though what propels her to pursue these goals with such rigor remains a mystery. This is just as Persephone would have it - the less anyone knows about her, the better.

When she must treat with others, she is both arrogant and sly, always teasing for a vulnerability to exploit. She has never shown mercy once in her long life, and if she has a heart at all beneath her silk and steel, she certainly does not deign to consult it.

The visiting noble claimed some distant relation to the Shadowbinder Herself, though Persephone felt nothing of the god's dark power in the noble's pale and vapid aura. Still, the noble was skilled in pretty phrases and fancy flatteries, and Persephone let him wax eloquent in praise of her wisdom, grace and beauty. It was not, after all, as though he were lying.

The goblet at the noble's side glinted in the light thrown off by the candles. "Drink," she invited him, and she could sense the flicker of his dismay.

Persephone almost laughed, though her smile merely curved more sharply. Poison, really, he feared that? Merely his own death, which would surely come to him whether or not she hastened it? His own lack of imagination was his problem, but to imagine her equally dull of mind - how plebeian.

He lifted the goblet. "Drink," she purred, and watched as he did so, his mouth trembling.

As for her part, she watched his eyes and drank deep of his fear. How far had her warriors swept into his territory? How much of his ancestral lands were now hers? By the time he finished his drink, her empire would encompass his holdings entirely.

"Do go on," she said with an inviting laugh. "Please... you're quite at home now."
