Madder also organizes the Citadel Wardens, who guard the immediate area around the lair and accompany any visitors, even any who have met with Lovat
Madder and Lovat have their own silent language consisting of gestures and nudges, understood only by them.
His voice is very clear and warm, however those who have made him angry have described it as searing fire

Madder has been loyal to Lovat since he arrived to find her sitting in a fully built lair system wearing a birdskull mask. Though Lovat initially refused to let him stay, he lived a few meters away from the clans boundary line, and left food and items at the border each day, until Lovat eventually saw the help he would be and accepted him into the clan. Madder is technically the first member of the Matriarch's Elite, as several months after arriving he found a birdskull mask had been left outside of his lair, along with a few pieces of armor. He accepted them, and others arriving to the clan began referring to him as the Matriarch's Champion, as he was never far from her side and was always ready to take on any would-be assassins. Or at least any that Lovat didn't deal with first.

Despite the fact that flight is difficult for him, on account of his small wings, Madder is a very accomplished warrior, always leading the charge from the ground in a fight. Outside of combat. he generally organizes guard patrols and scouting missions, as well as training new warriors and organizing hunting patrols. He has trained a Warcat to fight at his side, and a Seeker to scout ahead of him when patrolling territories. When the clan is at war, he sends his Seeker scouting the enemies position, and then calls his clan into battle with a warhorn he won in a long-ago battle.

Madder can be very stubborn about things, which sometimes leads to conflicts with Lovat about certain things, such as allowing an outsider access to the clan. When Alford came to the clan, despite the fact that Madder and Lovat were the only two members, Madder was very suspicious of him, stubbornly refusing to listen to his council and distrusting any sort of help he offered. Eventually, after multiple times when accepting Alford's advice would have prevented a few scars, and Lovat's argument that if he continued distrusting Alford when he had done nothing to warrant it would result in Madder either horribly maimed or dead, Madder grudgingly began trusting Al, finding that his council was actually very helpful, that Al was simply a good listener and problem solver. The two became very close, and the first person Madder will go to for help after a disagreement with Lovat, or if he has qualms about a new mission or clan member, is Al.

However, Madder is very suspicious of Albicant, especially since they were able to get past his guard, and even find their way to Lovat's lair. Madder has never forgiven himself for his failure, despite Lovat's multiple reassurances that nothing would have gone badly. Even though Albicant is technically a member of the Matriarch's Elite, Madder stubbornly insists that they should never be sent on any high-level missions, because he fears that they will betray the clan. Madder will always be there to guard and fight for his clan and Matriarch.
