=False idols are commonly seen as bad omens, disasters waiting to happen. It's best to leave them alone and anybody who worships them.

=Oberon should feel that way, shouldn't he?

=Oberon grew up worshiping a delusional dragon, stolen as a mere hatchling to serve the false god. He was designed to be a foot soldier, wings clipped to his sides until it was certain that he wouldn't run away.
=That didn’t stop him. As he grew older, he saw how the clans his army invaded were free, and he wanted that for himself.
=In the middle of the night, Oberon set fire to his squadron's tent, fleeing in the confusion it brang. Once in the water, he swam, swam until he couldn't swim any more, then swam even more. The boy didn't dare attempt to fly - even if he could manage it, the scouts racing overhead would see him for sure.

=The first light of day shone on Maki Island as Oberon pulled himself up onto her shores. He stayed where he was for some time, hunting the wildlife of the dense forest before finding another stowaway going by the name of Musa. The Imperial couldn't care much more for the Mirror's problems, as he had no qualm about any Arcane-Fire battle happening on some 'sacred' spot. After hearing enough of the Mirror’s squabbling for one day, Oberon chased off Musa and returned to his meal.

=A few hours later, his night was interrupted by another dragon, an Imperial named Dixie. She was in a frenzy, eyes wide and teeth bared. She claimed that she was ‘after some slimy, no-good Mirror’. Oberon simply shook his head and returned to sleeping as the other stormed off, back in the direction she came.

=That got him thinking, though. If he already met two dragons, perhaps there were more on this island? After a few hours of thinking it over, Oberon decided to try and find where the two came from, making his way to the volcano he'd seen from the clearings. If any Fire clan were here, that's where they'd be.
=And there they were. Almost as soon as he stepped foot into the lair he was ushered along to a small room. A small, green Nocturne right trailed him along the way, holding a clipboard and reading questions off of it. Overwhelmed by everything going on, Oberon went on autopilot - he simply answered her questions, plainly and quickly. After a few minutes she dropped a small badge in his claws - a silver coin with a chain welded to it, meant to be worn as a necklace.
=Oberon didn’t realize right away, but he had just filled out an immigrant form and applied for a prolonged stay at Clan Makira.

=Oberon was stunned for the rest of the week, clutching that little badge in his claws. His own cavern? His own seat at the table? His own thoughts heard? It was all new to the boy. Oberon broke down into tears at his first dinner, a real dinner, with spices and herbs and fresh ingredients. He didn't have to eat military meals, he didn't have to fight anymore. Excusing himself from the table, he rushed back to his cavern, trying to calm himself down from the weird mix of emotions he was feeling.
It was not long when Strikewing, the clan medic, joined him. After some moments of silence, she asked him what's been bothering him.

=Oberon wasn't used to the question, sending him crying once again. The Guardian was patient, however, stepping to his side and putting a claw on his shoulder, waiting for Oberon to calm down. He opened up to her, explained his past, how overwhelmed he was, how he just wasn't used to any of this. She told him that she was proud of him, that he did good, and he was strong for leaving.
=They stayed together for some time after that, Oberon appreciating the gentle silence Strikewing filled the room with. The Imperial savored the moment, long after the medic was called away to help with another dragon. He stayed in his room for some time, thinking to himself, hearing Strikewing’s voice praise him. He was happy, but one thought lingered at the back of his mind, eating away at him.

=If he did the right thing for leaving, why did he want to go back?
