The other way that you can take it is that the hatchling may have imprinted on him shortly after hatchling, so she's ""convinced that he's her father"" when he's ""not her father"" so she just followed him home when he wasn't looking, but I'm not too sure on this one.

Could work it into her lore as a sort of experiment? Like, she doesn't feel welcome, so Cupid helps her feel more like herself by finding genes to help her express her true self?
