Biography

Thoughtful Warrior with a huge private library. Seriously. No one knows where some of these books come from, several seem to be unique, but everyone in the clan knows that he'll let you borrow one if you ask nicely. Just be sure to bring them back. When he's not helping the clan's younger members become stronger, he's doing weirdly esoteric research that nearly always ends up being helpful to someone he meets down the line. If asked where his books come from, or how he knows what to research, he just smiles and passes you a book... wait, what? This isn't what you came here for... but anyone in the clan will tell you that you're better off reading it anyway. |
The clan has just heard the news. After the dire reports coming in from the surrounding area, I am not surprised in the least that the Sunbeam Ruins is in danger. As a warrior, I burn to go out and protect my clan. But... an Emperor... a different level of threat entirely. As an Imperial, I cannot help but be acutely aware of the dangers they pose, have felt the call in my blood when I am too near to others of our blessed and cursed breed. And the Luminax bloodline... we had thought that those three had been made safe long ago. To find out differently now, with everything else going on... I do not believe for a second that it is coincidence. And now our two leaders have summoned me. I confess myself unsurprised, they are neither one of them Imperials and likely will wish to hear everything there is to know on this new threat. They asked me the basic questions first. What is an Emperor, how is it formed exactly, I had expected these. But one had surprised me: Could another Imperial join them? I read their true question in their eyes and their frills. Could you join them? Are you a danger now too? Shaken, I answered them the only way I could, with the truth. I do not believe that they would want one not of their line, but it could happen anyway given the right circumstances. I shudder to consider those circumstances, as it seems unlikely that they could arise naturally, but… there are those who would consider the perils of such rituals a small price to pay for even tenuous control over such a powerful bloodline, and it is not only the beastclans that our warriors must fight. Some of those… no, they would have no problems taking an innocent Imperial, likely young and therefore suggestible and magically unformed enough to bond well to the bloodline, and- well, I digress, but suffice it to say that no dragon, least of all one too young to be involved in our politics, deserves such a fate. Nevertheless, they seemed reassured by this- more reassured than they should, in my opinion, but as I said: they are not Imperials. I had to advise against fleeing or sending any dragons to help the other flights, much to the displeasure of Solara- we are safe enough this close to the Beacon, but will be sitting ducks if any tried to cross the Ruins. They thanked me briefly, then dismissed me, each lost in thought. I hope they may guide us through this with their usual assurance. Now... now I research. Sangre interrupted me, once, to eat, and a second time to tell me that our deity intends to "rectify" her mistake. He promised to defend me if necessary, and I told him not to be ridiculous. Whatever plans the Lightweaver has for me, I cannot- will not- see him or the clan harmed because of it. He brought the clan leaders, who offered to move far away, to the Dragonhome perhaps, but I have refused that as well with a voice that must not tremble. I pray they will not offer again, because I think that maybe I will be too selfish to refuse them a third time. With shaking talons I now return to my research. I never thought I would have cause to fear our Mother, but I find myself with an inescapable dread of what will come of the Lightweaver's new resolve. |
