When the second age fell, the young gods had nowhere to go.

Their worshippers all vanished, their tombs obliterated - the jackal-headed god called Anubis was busy for a time, ushering souls into the realm of the dead and weighing hearts to determine who was worthy. The guide of souls was lost, however, when he found there were no more dead to lead. Osiris had taken his place as ruler of the underworld, and he was left wandering.

Until the age of dragons.

Anubis had busied himself during the fall of the pillar - he knew nothing of the shade or its role in the desecration of the mighty structure. He emerged from the underworld to find new races taking hold over the world - the birth of new rulers...and new gods.

With a lack of faith in his being and his image mostly forgotten, Anubis found himself at a loss of power and direction. He came to the deity of the harpies, Talona, seeking help. With him, she struck a deal - guide her fallen warriors into the afterlife, deliver swift judgement to those who defied her, and she would help him regain his power.
