xxxxxxxxxxxx Sometimes, she wasn't sure if it was right.

It didn't
feel wrong. But that certainly didn't mean it was right by any means. It just meant there was an absence of guilt, of remorse and obsession. But did that mean it was truly okay for her to do it?

The inkling seemed to catch her whenever she was unaware, the voice dissenting and balking. It questioned everything she did, painted doubt on all her actions.

... Yet she continued.

And sometimes, as she lay awake at night, there was a part of her that praised her ingenious ideas, that whispered that if the others knew, they'd be so
proud so awed...

And she wanted that. She wanted that recognition and that power. To always feel that rush of euphoria through her body when she finally,
finally got it right.

... And if a few dragons lost their lives in the process? Well, it was for a cause. At least their deaths weren't meaningless.

She has a distinct disregard for everyone and everything. If something doesn't help her, it's not useful. The only one she semi-cares about is her assistant, and even then it's more of a vague, "Oh, right. Yeah. Him. He should be around... somewhere." She has a drive for knowledge and scientific discovery that delves into the immoral. What's worse is that she knows it's immoral (at least by society's standards), but for her, it's always an afterthought. Pretty much just a psychopath. And not one you wanna go near. In fact, it's recommended that the only way you interact with her is through her assistant, because he's perfectly normal (If you ignore the fact that he helps her, 'cause really, how sane is someone who's helping a maniac?) and most likely won't murder you in your sleep.

She has no redeemable qualities. Absolutely nothing excuses anything she does, and she can cite "For science!" and "For the Greater Good!" all she wants, but nope. She's just a psychopath. Stay away from her when she gets into one of her moods, 'cause that's when her disregard for everyone and everything turns crazy and bodies drop around her like flies. Catch her during one of her lulls (in between discoveries when she's hanging around thinking, "What do I discover next?"), and she is almost a good conversationalist. Almost. If you're willing to sit through her long scientific lectures that makes no sense to anyone but her and just nod and smile so she thinks you're actually listening.

The only thing that drives her is her need for knowledge and fame. She operates under an impression that this next discovery will be the one who makes her famous. It doesn't seem to register that half the time when she tells other people about her discoveries, their first impression is, "You did what?! How could— You can't seriously think that's okay." She just figures that she hasn't found the right audience yet, and one day she'll get the fame she deserves.

Idlin honestly came here just because of her assistant, Mogaba. He came up to her one day and said, "You know... I know this clan in Shadow that probably doesn't care that you're a complete murderer. Probably." (Except not in those exact words). In fact, Mogoba more likely said, "You're gonna get caught. How about we move before that happens?" Except he'd also never be that direct, 'cause whenever he's direct, Idlin gets weirdly defensive. So really, Mogoba probably said, "Hey... I know you love Ice and all, but I just found some great real estate in Shadow. And! You just finished that big project. Isn't this a great time to move?" And Idlin went along with it 'cause he was right. She had just finished a major project, had more extra time on her hands, and if what Mogaba was saying was true, then Shadow had a great lab she could use.

And so Idlin came and settled in the Tangled Woods and never once looked back.

Idlin is friends with no one but Mogaba, and even then not really. Mogaba's her assistant (and half the time she doesn't even remember how he came to be her assistant. It seems like one day he was just there and she's never been able to be rid of him since), and she often brushes him off for her latest experiment. He's actually pretty annoying 'cause either he's nagging her to eat more (or to stop being so sloppy with her kills), or he annoyingly cleans up her laboratory when she's in the middle of an important experiment and then she can't find half her things when she needs them. Honestly, you'd think by now he'd stop messing with her stuff. But for all his faults, Mogaba's surprisingly invaluable, 'cause otherwise Idlin probably would have died from starvation or dehydration by now. She still treats him like trash, though. It's really not a healthy working relationship and any other dragon would have ditched her at this point. Who knows why he's stuck around for so long.

Her lair is surrounded by a graveyard of bodies. Sometimes poorly buried which makes Mogaba get all into a huff (Really, subtly is just not Idlin's strong suit). Her place should smell like decomposing and rotten flesh, but her magic is so great that it makes the smell disappear. Except Idlin's lying to herself, and in actuality she's just lost her sense of smell after living among the dead for so long. Mogaba often tries to cover up the smell with flowers and fragrances, and it works, for a little bit. Enough so that visiting clan members' only remarks are, "Oh my god... that smell is overpowering. How many flowers do you have in this place?!" and "Are you sure this isn't a flower shop?" and "You put candle shops to shame. My gosh. Someone needs to crack open a window or something." Unfortunately, flowers are just a short-term solution, and when their scents inevitably run out, Mogaba just tosses in the towel and keeps his visits short.
