Biography
CLAN LORE
The trees tell stories here...
A once abundant marketplace.
A cobwebby hut, plastered in fading paint and hatchling prints.
A table, once great, now broken in half.
Eyes that follow you from the bushes and trees.
And in the middle of the clearing stood a pearlcatcher, tail drooping in the dirt. At her feet sat a bogsneak, tongue lolling out as she tried to catch the ants on the ground.
"No one lives here anymore, child. The Tribe has moved on."
Waving her hands, a breath of dust flies up from the ground, until the trees could not be seen. Slowly inkling onto the dusty canvas, like water drops, painted the picture of a massive tree, draped with ropes and huts. Dragons flew between, decorating the tree with lights as music tinkled below. The view drops, until you see a birds eye view of a colourful marketplace. Items, services, and familiars are being sold everywhere, while others still watched the performers; Twisting, bending coatls, singing dancers, talented minstrels and ostentatious displays of magic. Dragons ducked between the audience, paws slipping in and out of pockets like a needle diving into thread, while nocturnes with gilded armor chased them down, sliding through the crowd without a ripple.
Finally the vision lost its colour and seemed to slow. Holding her other hand out, another dust storm reveals a vision, this one more somber. A dark swamp seems to drip off the canvas, and you move away slightly. Dead branches drip with moss and algae, and gnats the size of your palms drone in and out of view. Toads croak and tortured screams echo through the swamp. As a ramshack hut comes into view, the sound of a banjo out of tune dulls the sounds of the screams. An imperial slumps over the banjo, fingers dully plucking at the strings. Hearing something that didn't make a sound, the imperial looks up and you catch a glimpse of the rotting flesh melting off her face. With a toothy smile, she bows, her wet hair falling off her back to reveal wings that have been poorly stitched on. Quickly dimming as another dragon came into view, the dust began to disappear but the sound of a ringing slap could still be heard.
Again it was just you and the pearlcatcher. Standing like a judge before you, holding the two piles of judge like scales of justice, she gently asked, with an accent thick from casting dusty spells.
"Which path do you choose?"
You stand there and think, before deciding. Upon hearing your answer, she laughs and clicks her fingers.

"The trees tell stories here..."
╭
Kafani is the Clan elder and lorekeeper. It is up to her whether dragons ultimately stay or leave. She is a tired old fae, having been in a few stressful positions. Now she draws and paints, as well as help her mate Voltair with lorekeeping. As he says, she is the creative half of the group, providing colour to his facts. Kafani's favourite food is butterfly wings, and one day she hopes to be as pretty as the skydancers in the clan. She is perfectly happy to sit with her crochet and watch the rest of the clan move and act. Kafani likes to treat those who visit her and talk, often giving them preserved moth wings, palm leaves, or a box of crushed up cookies from the back of one of her cupboards. Only one dragon has managed to offend her, and she saw the elderly fae's fury. But who would try and offend a little old lady?
╰
╭
Kafani is the first dragon to move to this patch of land and claim it as her den. With no parents, she made her way here on ragged, one day old wings, and slept where she landed. However she was followed. A black fae with green wings soon settled near her, and protected her with his own wings, sheltering them both like a blanket. They slept for many days like this, until her wings were healed and they were rested. Their bellies grumbled. Kafani noticed a log nearby. Under it contained a feast of insects, providing ample nutrition. She looked around. Surrounding her were flowers, grasses, trees and crisp streams. This place would be perfect to raise a clan of her own. The black fae wasn't inclined to go anywhere either. They set their den up and had three eggs, Lidenius, Sedore and Fujin. However, like their parents, they didn't stay for long, and went off to explore the world. Since then, one has gone missing and two have been reported being seen serving individual gods. Travellers came and went. Crystalline guardians with seraph wings, midnight tundras, rippling blue faes and banana faes, as well as Sheba, the white skydancer. With Sheba came Jewel, Glint, Modremoth, Loren, Tritea, Morrow, Gleam, Retina and Lepi. Some were already adults, some were babies destined for the exalting block. Kafani welcomed them all in. Soon she became known as the clan head, but that was never her aim. She was too young, too small, and no one would listen to her. Soon eggs were being laid and babies were being born. That was okay. Then babies started growing up. Guardians towered over her. Imperials tried snapping at her. Skydancer babies were being rambunctious and knocking her over. She had no place with the babies. But the adults were worse. When she'd settle down for a nap, adults towered over her asking for money, for food, asking to leave the clan. People were growing unhappy. Fights broke out. The food ran out. Dissention rose among the dragons. Finally, she'd had enough. She quit. Nobody listened to her anyway, and instead begged her to choose a head. Kafani had enough, and escaped. While she fled, Voltair took over. Much in the way of lore occurred then, with Kafani having little to no impact in their stories. She was done. Dragons came and went, assassinations occurred, thefts and deaths and miracle births occurred, and still Kafani stayed away, up in her little nest with her mate and her butterfly wings. Now though, she will come out. Her nest is too small, and she needs to see her new, better clan. Now she will show herself, and pick up the tattered mess her leadership created. She will not be leader, no. But she will be Elder, and her voice of reason will guide many decisions.
