B I O G R A P H Y

The owner of the hotel was just as mysterious and ornately decorated as the hotel itself. It sat next to Ziggy's fortune telling booth, and so Ayanous liked to play an ethereal persona. Ayanous liked to spirit around Skyloft’s breezeway after hours, while the dragons boarded in the massive tent snoozed peacefully inside. He made purchases silently from the merchants who had yet to close up for the night, procuring little items to give to his love as gifts upon his return. Ayanous spent many nights alone in his nest, waiting for his mate to return.

While Ayanous awaited the return of his mate, he spent his days entertaining guests in the courtyard. He would have Chisko and Breia play beautiful music while his guests danced their hearts out. On weekends, he would have Srinshee and his team of cooks prepare a big feast, where the guests could dine on as much as they wanted, drinking Beryl’s famous pink iced brew until they all blacked out. Ayanous adored his job.

But all was not wine and roses. Gilded mirrors lined the hallways, and Ayanous could see how exhausted his nighttime excursions made him. His health was beginning to fail, as it all was sucked into maintaining the hotel. Ayanous loved running the hotel, don’t get him wrong, but he also knew that it was a parasite. He needed to find a successor for his position before he became too ill to function properly on his own.

_No Running_

____One of the challenges of running a hotel is getting hatchlings to behave in the lobby. The hotel itself did not have many amenities, so they entertained themselves in any way they could. This included crashing into walls late at night and zooming around in Ayanous’s lobby. There had to be a way to stop this mad behavior without compromising how little sleep he already got. So he turned, reluctantly, to Julian and Grinder.

They designed for him a golem of life-like proportions. They dubbed their creation Cali, and she was programmed to stalk the halls of the hotel at night and send rogue hatchlings back to their parents. They’re not exactly sure where the fire came from, or who programmed her to say the phrases she did. Ayanous didn’t care as long as the thumping on the walls stopped at night and he didn’t have to buy new lanterns every week.

_A Whisper_

____Ayanous arrived on a day that Murmur returned from a delivery in the Focal Point. The first time he laid eyes on the pearlcatcher was after the initial mob had receded. He was drawn to the tattoos sprawling across Murmur’s body, the matching art on his pearl, grasped tightly in his clawed foot. When Murmur removed his goggles, Ayanous was certain. He was beautiful. Ayanous had to have him.

It seemed Murmur needed him, too. Despite the pearlcatcher never saying it, Ayanous knew how much Murmur loved him. He knew it by the way Murmur would curl closer at night when he couldn’t sleep. It was comforting to Ayanous to know someone would be there for him, whether he was there or off on another journey. “You know you can check out any time you like,” Ayanous would remind Murmur in the silence of the night. But Murmur would never leave.
