Biography
Raiden
Raiden had watched as other dragons new to the lair had found their place within the large clan & wondered what she could do to be of use. She spent days in the sun pondering different options, sometimes wandering aimlessly to see what everyone else was up to. Her wanderings never took her in the direction of the sea, even though she loved seafood, all that water scared her.
One day she noticed a long line of dragons hauling a variety of containers of seafood into the lair. Even the small Fae clutched burlap sacks of shrimp as they fluttered inside. She watched for hours as the dragons came back out & turned once more toward the sea to repeat their task. It dawned on her that with a Ridgeback in the clan now these dragons were having to catch & carry far more fish than ever. It shamed her that she'd never thought of it til now.
Joining the line of returning dragons, Raiden pushed down her fear & silently thought of what she would say when she met Cael, the Fishing Master. They walked for hours.
Raiden could smell the sea before she saw it, the scent causing an uncomfortable ripple of her hide as she forced herself to continue walking forward. Cael caught sight of her first and came to meet her with a quizzical look on his features. She quietly explained her presence to him, while a growing crowd of dragons stopped what they were doing to hear what she said. When she finished speaking there was a long silence, then everyone suddenly started talking at once. Bits & pieces of the cacophony around her began to make sense & she realized they were welcoming her. The loudest assured her she wouldn't need to approach the shore as close as she had today to be a great help. Picking up their containers again, they walked back with her to just beyond the place where she'd first scented the sea. Here she wasn't afraid & they worked together to place the catch securely on her back & spread wings. Once she was fully loaded she rose & began the long walk back to their lair.
Coming into the lair with that first load & seeing the looks of astonishment was such a pleasure. Caldera had bustled over, giving her a wide Snapper grin as she shooed her off to be unloaded. Raiden had her own grin as she moved deeper into the maze of wide tunnels. She'd found her place among her clan mates.
