The cactus is only a symbol.- Life, in the harshest terrains. Life, not wilting nor delicate, beaten down by circumstance, but thriving, vicious, insistent of itself and its right to Be. To a cactus witch, it is the ultimate expression of defiance, of strength. Not all places are ideal for Life- but there is a difference between 'difficult' and 'impossible', and the cactus witch will show it to you, come hell or high water.

Mancamula is not much of a witch. In fact, he seems to have a downright distaste for magic. Wasteful, he says, lazy, he spits, and he's not at all bitter about how his own magic gutters and fails at every try, he insists.

His magic is flawed. What he grows with it comes out sick and ugly, what he heals with it bloats and bursts. Gladekeeper alone knows what would happen if he actively turned it toward malice, but fortunately, Mancamula is a pacifist. He grows his crops the hard way- with sweat, love, and fierce weedpulling. The important thing is they grow, magic or no, and he won't let you forget it.
