Biography

Pomegranates are a popular Mediterranean fruit densely packed with crunchy, juicy seeds. It's also densely packed with nutrients; on average, one pomegranate has 11.3g fiber, 32% daily value of Vitamin C, and 27% daily value of folate.

Culturally, pomegranates have appeared in many different applications, from herbal remedies to religion. The ancient Egyptians regarded pomegranates as a symbol of prosperity and ambition, and they also used it to treat tapeworm infections. In ancient Greece, it was known as the "fruit of the dead", with an obvious reference to Hades and Persephone. Christian art has incorporated the fruit for centuries, often depicting the fruit as a symbol of fullness in the suffering and resurrection of the messiah.
