Ryok–// OC Dragon



Ryok is a child of scales, a half-human born to a dragon mother. As far as he knows, he is the last dragon on earth. Dragons — once powerful shapeshifters that united and dominated all four intelligent species — have been hunted nearly to extinction by humanity following a bloody war, and Ryok was only able to escape the same fate as the others due to his unlikely human half. Most dragons are easily identifiable even when shifted by their distinct reptilian eyes that remain so even upon shifting, but Ryok's humanity helps him blend in. But there's a drawback: his eyes might look human, but humans can't shapeshift, so his ability to switch between species is limited. He can hide them under his clothes, but Ryok can't get rid of the patchy scales that cover part of his human body.

Eventually he is discovered, and he inadvertently drags the story's POV character on a whirlwind adventure running for his life, along the way picking up a few friends and maybe starting a world war. But if revolution will allow dragons to live once more...well, maybe a little rebellion won't hurt.
