Biography

Tamra

Chickweed Unhatched Nature Egg

Tamra is the apprentice of Ngai, who teaches her how to focus and utilize her magic. Sometimes Tamra will get fidgety or bored and start rolling her pearl around under her paw. This causes plants to sprout or grow underneath; this is the focus of Ngai's teachings, as Ngai has a similar ability, but affected only by his mood, not a physical object. While Tamra does not create quite as many flowers as she did as a hatchling, they still appear when she's bored or distracted.

Mate: Diana

The Coatls in the Sageglow clan were worried when Tamra hatched, with her completely pale colors. Her mother, all white herself, reassured them, while her father adamantly declared that nothing could be wrong with her. Meanwhile, the eager young Pearlcatcher busied herself with snapping up her eggshell, enjoying the crunching sound and paying no heed to anything stuck to the pieces.
By the time her parents turned back to her, Tamra had already finished. Her crop was distended slightly to hold and transform the shell. Her mother looked around.
"Xanthos? Where is her tree?"
Both parents searched the nest for the easily visible glowing leaves of Tamra's Vemedurat, but could find nothing. Xanthos looked back at Tamra and the bulge in her throat. Tamra watched them curiously, and hiccuped. It was time for her pearl to come out.
The pearl came out its normal gooey black. But as it dried, instead of turning pure white like it should, a faint green glow began to emanate from it. Tamra immediately started rolling her new toy around. Where it had lain grew grass and small flowers. When her father reached out to take a closer look at her pearl, Tamra draped herself across it protectively.
The priests and mages of the clan could find no other conclusion: the seedling in Tamra's egg stayed attached to a piece of shell, and, in her eagerness, young Tamra had swallowed it with the rest. Now, the seedling and its strong magic were forever completely encased in her pearl.
Well, maybe not completely.
After only a few days, dragons noticed the same glow coming from the scales on Tamra's throat. As she grew, the glow spread and darkened. No one in the clan knew what to do with her. Someone, though, knew of a Coatl in an allied clan, with similarly strong magic. He would know.
So Tamra was brought to the Wild Oasis, to practice under Ngai's teachings and learn to control her magic.
