Querulous

"All paths have led me back here, though I return a different dragon to the one who left."

Despite being the second dragon to join The Lastsparks, Querulous quickly became disenchanted with his new life. He had no goals or aspirations and bounced from one role to another, trying to find his place in the clan. Tired from failed relationships and unhappy at not finding a job that suited him, Querulous felt out of step with the other residents, and he decided to take a sabbatical and go on a journey of self-discovery. Bidding farewell to his friends, he set off into the wilds, letting fate guide him on a new path, taking nothing but a journal and a quill.

The fae met many interesting characters on his travels, and had some strange and exciting adventures, some that he will never forget and some that he wished he could (most notably with the disfigured thief Oculus, who still haunts his dreams to this day.) With his world view gradually widening, Querulous' wanderlust taught him much about himself, and he enjoyed writing down his thoughts and exploits, until one day many months after setting out he finally knew what he wanted to do, and decided to go back and share this revelation with his clan.

Upon arriving home, the other dragons noticed that Querulous seemed older and wiser, and had an air of confidence and even authority about him that hadn't been there before. The fae was greeted warmly, and he told stories of his travels to eager listeners, which pleased him as he had never had any tales to tell before. When it came to discussing his future in the clan, his request was met with surprise - what the fae wished was to do a little of everything. Not content with one role, Querulous realised that what satisfied him was trying new things, so he offered his services to all who required a helping hand, whether it be caring for hatchlings, gathering supplies, taking inventory, cooking or cleaning, he would do his best wherever he was needed.

The fae's informed and mature outlook was admired, and his 'dragon of all trades' role proved a great success. Now every day Querulous has new challenges and experiences to look forward to, never knowing exactly what will happen and enjoying that immensely. When he isn't actively working, the fae is often in his study, writing his memoirs and acting as scribe for the clan, his habit of journaling staying with him even after his travels, as his life is now so full there is plenty of material for his diary.

Querulous began my love for faes, right on my very first day. When he popped up as my random second derg I was done for.
