Imagine losing your soul. Imagine wandering incomplete, empty, aimless. You have lost the most essential part of your self. You're shunned by everyone you had known, the dragon they had cared for is gone. There are a few strangers willing to take pity on you. The looks they give you... Somehow, it's almost worse than the immediate rejection you're used to. Your soul is gone, irretrievable, and anyone who so much as glances at you knows it. You can't even pretend to be whole.
In this situation, wouldn't you do anything to be yourself again? Wouldn't you do anything to be whole?
Mie would.
When some dragons look at their reflections, they are looking at a monster. Though this is metaphorically true for Mie, it is also literally true. No one else seems to see it, and so she has not mentioned it. Sometimes though, in the middle of the night with not a single mirror around, she can hear it breathing.
