She was birthed before there were names, when the gods were merely called for the ways they shook and mended the earth, long before the Arcanist whispered their secret callings. Her siblings were the charred crags and the decay on the site marked with the Flamecaller's blood as she peeled herself into existence: the horned daughter of death and flames, who first sought to devour the world as her parentage did. It was those early years she was known merely as The Disaster by the gods' children. But then — and forgive her if she will never admit it — a Child taught her the way of humanity, and when she fell from grace she cleansed her bones with glass fire. And to her children, and their children, and the people of dragonkind: she is now the cauter to mend the wound, the bonfire to burn the past and start anew.
