Biography

The Queen of Sweets
tumblr_inline_njw5iwmQUG1qg2i5p.gif

Tucked away in between Octavian's kitchen entrance and one of the private dining nooks set into the walls of the Lesser Hall is a slight opening. It's just barely big enough for one of the larger breeds to slip into, and some of the biggest among the Guardians and Ridgebacks might be denied passage. Once inside, it opens up considerably into a roughly rectangular room. One wall radiates the excess warmth from the ovens. Across from that is a glass display case, set barely a meter off the ground.

The room had sat empty until Jade followed her father Haruka into the clan after the exaltation of her mother. The emerald Imperial is more of a semiannual resident than anything. She loves to travel, moving all throughout Sornieth with her familiar by her side. When whatever she's been looking for has been found, the female Imperial returns to the Spire.

On those times, the room is crowed with hatchlings, all pressing themselves closer to the clear side of the counter, oohing at the glittering and sweet candies that line the shelves.

With her need to move around and explore new areas, Jade chose a career that would satisfy that. She's a well-known candy maker and seller. Her trips often take her deep into the wilderness of the eleven flights, searching for the perfect ingredient to complete her newest confection. By the time she had joined the Briarshade Clan, her teacher had pronounced her ready to start her own business.

She's happy to barter the creations to adults for services, money, or new ingredients - hatchlings each get a free treat of their choice, occasionally to the detriment of their parents.

Jade is just as much of an inventor as her father. She merely prefers to work with less damaging and dangerous mediums. The creative genes run strong in her family, and she finds herself getting anxious if she can't express them.

Her recipes are kept inside a large, loose leaf book of sorts - large enough than an Imperial can handle them with ease, and it's easy to add new sheets of paper when she needs them. The book is bound in green leather with a rainbow sheen, and opens only to her magic. Additionally, without doing some other actions as the book is opened, the pages remain blank.

The Imperial is kind and enthusiastic about life - she greatly enjoys spending time around hatchlings and younger dragons. She's not particularly sensitive though, and might scare a shy little one. She's also perfectly capable of defending herself with a combination of long, strong wings, shadow magic, and some deadly or dehabilitating potions she makes seperate from her candy.

The Briarshade Clan was an excellent fit for Jade as she was just beginning to develop her business, making contacts spread across Sornieth and an ever-increasing variety of new sweets.

Now that she's spread her name far and wide, the cramped space available to her in the Feindwr is not enough. Jade has decided to leave for one of the Briarshade Clan's closest allies, the Clan of the Fractured Soul. They reside in the depths of the Shifting Expanse, and she knows that there will be a lot more space for her to experiment there.

This doesn't mean she won't visit from time to time, bringing with her new treats and sweets - just that the Briarshade Clan is not longer her base of operations.

Her name has been passed down from her great-grandmother on her grandfather's side, and that ancestor's own father.
