Delfim arrived in Patera when he was quite young, a little bit past reaching his teenage years, he was alone and hungry and if not by the kindness of the dragons of the town he wouldn't have survived for long, Bellize taking him under her wing and making Delphim her apprentice only cementing his profound gratitude towards the dragons of the clan.
He never told anyone about his past or what happened with him before arriving in town, not even his mate Heather, but no one dare to pry further with Bellize looming over anyone that dares to pester him about it.
He has a mother-son relationship with the Guardian and loves her deeply for everything she has done for him, they're very alike in many aspects despite him being adopted.
Funnily enough Bellize is also the adopted daughter of Starbound, despite being much older, she considers Heather her sister since she was also raised by him - their family tree is a mess, and his kids find it absolutely hilarious.

Delfim, despite never talking about it, was heavily scarred by his past, traumatized in a way he can't even think about it without freezing, even after so many years, he doesn't and is glad his family never asks. He's happy (finally) and his past is behind him.
