GAARIN

Q52mqth.png

Firstborn :: Retired Traveler :: Family Self-Appointed Therapist

Gaarin grew up on the Cloudwatch Outpost a lively small village that thrives in the harsh lands beneath the vortex. His childhood was filled with love and joy despite the harsh terrain, being cared by his parents and the dragons and beastclans of the community, seeing and talking with many, many travelers that filled him with wonder and curiosity at each tale he was regaled with, drinking each word with rapt attention and badly concealed reverence.

His father seeing his love for stories never failed to spoil him with books and new stories he himself heard (or even hunted out specially for him), and so his passion towards the world and adventures grew with him, his mother, more practical and sharp eyed, seeing that one day her son would probably venture far and away did her best to train and harden him to the world, teaching him from basic hunting skills to advanced forms of combat as he got older. Despite his mother being a little aloof, he never felt unloved, not only his father spoiled him and showered him with love and affection, he could see in his mother's little gestures her love shine through.

His family wasn't only his parents tough, his favorite family member was Tynith, a Tundra that raised his father, his beloved Grandpa (and where he always run to when in trouble, even after reaching his teenage years and started getting bigger than the poor shaved tundra) and Dairon, who he was a huge fan of and was often seen trailing after if not with his parents or grandfather (she was just so cool in his child eyes).

As Gaarin grew older, his skills in combat and hunting grew as well and so did his knowledge of the world, he learned about his kin's origin through his mother, what she could recall at least and through others of his own that started to appear more and more as time passed by... despite that, he was a child of the Winds (and boy, his parents almost had a heart attack the first time he flew), a child born in the modern days, he liked learning about his history, but for him, that was what remained to be, he did not felt the need to seek or hunt creatures and things from a bygone era... what he yearned was to travel, to see the world, to explore and visit all the places he heard about growing up, the beautiful, the scary, the gloomy and the wild, and when he reached adulthood, as his mother predicted since he was a bright-eyed hatchling, he decided to leave his home and travel the world.

Leaving his clan and family was one of the hardest things he ever did, but he knew from the marrow of his bones and the silent whispers of the wind that always guided him that his final home was not where he was born, he was made to roam, at least for a while. He bid his family a heartfelt goodbye and with passion burning in his core and determination singing in his veins he started his journey.

Sornieth was everything he had ever imagined and despite his travels not being filled with only good things, even the hard times were filled with an ever-present wonder that kept him going no matter what.

Before venturing to other places he roamed the Windswept Plateau in it's entirety, despite having visited some places with his family a few times in his childhood he never stayed too long or was able to truly explore, and that was what he did, every nook and cranny of his homeland was expertly discovered and learned, the dragons that lived there, the beastclans, the differences in their cultures, the legends, the history of each place and everything he could discover. He roamed for a few years in the Plateau until finally feeling that it was time to leave his homeland.

And so he went and so he travelled and learned and grew.

He visited the burning lands of the Molten Scar in the Ashfall Islands and roamed the The Lightning Farms of the Shifting Expanse, learned to breathe underwater with the dragons of Churnscar Wharf in the Sea of a Thousand Currents and debated many interesting theories with the Schollar dragons of the Lanternlea Port in the Sunbeam Ruins.

To his chagrin he got completely lost in the beautiful lands of the Wispwillow Grove in the Tangled Woods and was saved by a clan of mysterious Veilspuns from imminent death. He was able to see with his own two eyes the beauty of the Everbloom Gardens in the Viridian Labyrinth and could fly around the Pillar of the World in Dragonhome. Was almost discovered after trying to hide his enourmous frame behind a makeshift shroud and participated in the interesting - and sometimes violent - gatherings of the Hellwell Undercroft in the Scarred Wasteland.

After almost dying - again - he left the Scarred Wastelands and entered the bauty of the Starfall Isles, visiting the Astrolodome and it's wonders and getting lost in the Tourmaline Archives until being pulled back by the wishpering of the his guiding wind, to his last destination, his kin's home, the Southern Icefield.

He roamed the Frigid Floes and the Tundras, flew by the jagged peaks of the Cloudscrape Crags, relishing as always in the discoveries he was able to made, mapping the land and engraving each sight in his memory, as he did before, since the beggining of his journey. In the land of his kin, he took his time, like his own home he explored it with care and patience, visiting and learning about the clans, the culture, the people of his ancestral home and finally, finally he arrived at the birthplace of his kin, the entry of the Dripcave Dregs.

He decided to stay there for some time, he knew that this was his last destination in his journey through Sornieth, where he would end, he didn't knew yet, but he wanted to learn everything he could before the end inevitably was reached. Despite his best efforts, he was seen as an outsider by Gaolers clans he stayed, more even than some other breeds with ice in their eyes, even so, he didn't mind much, he was there to learn, to explore and despite never truly integrating - or being able to grasp fully the ice Gaolers culture and all that it entailed - he made true friends and found happiness in their mist.

Despite never returning home in all those years traveling through Sornieth, Gaaring was a child of the Wind and the Wind was always able to send his messages to his parents and family and friends, it was rare for him to receive an answer, but he felt solace in knowing they knew all about his travels.

Then one day he woke up, below the ice between his kin and despite his love for them, he knew, it was time to go, once again.

Maybe I'm a Guardian in disguise.

He would often sardonically think when these urges hit him, like a Guardian seeking his Charge, but this time it wasn't just his wanderlust calling, no, there was something... someone. He needed to find them.

Finally. Finally.

He said once more his heartfelt goodbyes and at the entrance of his kin primordial home, opened his wings, calling for the Wind to guide him one more time. This time he didn't have a destination in mind and so he let the Southern winds guide his path, away from the frozen lands and back to the radioctive crystals of the Starfall Isles and eventually at the edge of the Starwood Strand, to a town in an asteroid crater, where he would finally meet the one he was destined to.

Meeting Ecthelion was both feeling like a star was collapsing in his core and finding home for the first time after being lost for eons.

He met her while he was wandering the town, looking for a place to rest and eat, bumping distractedly into her really and when their eyes met, he knew, he knew with his whole being, it was her, it was her. He couldn't contain his tears at finally meeting the love of his life, his mate, his world.

And she, someway, somehow, knew too, her harsh features softned at his tears and her imposing regal figure seemed to melt when she touched his face, she looked at him with as much awe and love and pure devotion, the same that was reflected in his own being when he looked at her and no words were needed to be told between the two Gaolers.

She brought him home and introduced him as her mate to her mother, father and family, he speechless and bursting with love despite barely trading a few words with her.

They held a beautiful ceremony a few days after (and his family went as well! His father bursting into happy tears after hearing how they knew they were destined to be, his mother almost shining of how proud she was of him, of them, really, she approved of the almost feral Gaoler that was his soon-to-be mate).

She welcomed him to her home and family with open arms, they talked a lot then, learned about each other with avid attention and their love only grew, it helped that she was nothing but loving and soft with him, and mostly only him (most dragons found her downright scary) and that he was almost as great at her in combat, which seemed to loosen her worry (she was an absolute worryart when it came to her loved ones safety) and so his wanderlust settled, the whispers in the wind calmed and he finally found his home, her.

The years passed and their family grew, their children healthy and powerful in their own right. He is one of the most level-headed of the family, much calmer than his mate and the perfect balance for her overbearing protectiveness, that's why as the years passed by he ended up as the unoficcial theraphist of his beloved ones and he doesnt mind not even one bit, he loves them all with all his heart.

When not helping someone around town - his skills are almost as varied as the places he visited in his world-wide journey, he's with his beloved mate or chatting or playing with his children and extended family.
