SOLAR
   GIVE YOURSELF TO THE LIGHT LIKE A SPARK TO THE FLAMES  Solar, The Light Resplendent, is an enigma and a worry to most of the creatures of Sornieth. She and Her so-called brother, the creature known as Shadow, appeared mysteriously in the lands encroached upon by the Tangled Wood, where the darkness met the light and the crashing sea, and were quick to establish a lair and territory. It wasn't long before newcomers would trickle in, curious about this pair, only to discover something disconcerting: Solar, along with all her titles, was proclaiming Herself a God, in defiance of the Eleven and all their domain. With defiance came both allies and enemies; not all of the Dragon Gods' children love their creators, and sooner or later The Syzygy had been established in all its glory, named for when the planets around them formed a complete line. But enemies abounded, and furious, they would send a force to stamp out these heretics. A force that was met alone by Solar of The Blinding Light, Her movements unnatural as She stepped before them, Her subjects watching from the trees. Her demands of them, to leave in peace or perish before Her, were only met with hostility, with bristling spears. The stories never agree on what happens next, the rumours as varied as they are numerous. But there is one truth that cannot be contested: when the dust settled, and the power She had summoned faded, there was nothing left of her foe but charred bones. The message was clear: The Syzygy would not be so easily removed.  Solar is an aloof, demanding God; She may truly care for Her subjects, but her care is not shown with the gentle touch of Her brother's compassion. Instead it is with the full might of the sun behind Her, casting down those threats who would dare harm what is Hers. Everything about Her demands reverence and respect; of the pair of leaders, She is the one who has come to live in a near-castle filled with finery and decorated with burnished gold. Like the Dragon Gods She defies with Her very existence, offerings and tribute are expected, and it is many a time she calls those worthy enough to her side. To refuse is to invite cold stares, but not punishment; it is an expectation to come when called, to serve Her when required, but Her cruelty is not for Her subjects, and those who would serve with Her for a time can always go home.  Of all the factions that make up the Syzygy, The Sunchasers are Solar's personal guards and attendants; unlike those she requests service from in the rest of the clan, these dragons are bound to her for life and give their God their full devotion. They are agents of her will, as swift and merciless as the Light they serve, and are both skilled arbiters of the truth and creators of illusions; like their counterparts in Shadow's retinue, the Black Storms, they show that their God's Light is many things at once. In mimicry of their God, their eyes often shine with an inner glow no matter the colour, and all of them have the same unnatural movements often to their step. Their breath weapons don't seem to take note of said eye colour; they are all a burning, all-consuming thing, both light and searing heat in equal measure. They are bright and shining, and all draw the eye like their patron God, a thing that harms the eyes if stared at too long. There is a pride in this; while the Black Storms stick to the darkness, excellent spies every one, the Sunchasers are there to be noticed. Much like aforementioned Storms, there are still whispers around them, whispers that their Light is not of Sornieth- And that these Gods are interlopers from a world far from here. |
