Fotia's Glossary

Civic Engagement- refers to a commoner's participation in civil societies. Gollia has many civil societies that commoner dragons can get involved with, the purpose of which is to meet dragons outside their breed who share common interests. Any commoner can found a new civil society, it just needs to be registered with the Royal Council at one of the bi-monthly meetings.

Coalition- in The Royal Council, some dragon breeds have common interests and needs. When this happens, the breeds band together and form coalitions. Examples of such coalitions include the Rare Breeds Coalition and the Fighting Breeds Coalition.

Commoner- offspring of royalty.

Gene Checklists- a checklist of genes that royalty have, to ensure gene diversity. X means we have it.

Monarchs (see Royalty)

Notable ancestors- any dragon with ancestry dating back to the very first round of dragons who formed the foundation stock of this nest is said to have "notable ancestors". Some commoners have roots going WAY back.

Priest/ess- dragons born as commoners with three rare genes. These are an "elite" among commoners in Gollia, and as such their mating is even more restricted than a normal Gollian's. Among their privileges is the right to never be exalted.

Priest-hopeful- A commoner born with 1 rare gene. Because they want their line to enter the priestly class, they mate with monarchs with rare genes, in the hopes they will have a descendant born with three rare genes.

The Royal Council- the Royal Council (sometimes shortened to The Council) is the governing body of Gollia. It is composed of the king and queen of each breed, who are supposed to represent the interests of their breed. It meets twice a month, and its minutes are published under Snapper Queen Gehenna.

Royal Patron/Patron- a monarch's support of a civil society. Monarchs are generally considered too busy to participate in civil societies, besides the fact that they interact with dragons outside their breed at the Royal Council. Monarchs typically support civil societies headquartered in their breed.

Royalty (also called monarchs)- dragons born outside of this nest, which have been purchased. Each dragon breed has a king and a queen.

Side-Duty- some royalty have jobs or responsibilities. Because royalty rarely get exalted, unlike commoners, some of them get tasks or responsibilities. A full list of royalty and their tasks can be found in the table of contents, which is the responsibility of the Tundra King.
