Biography

Every act of creation is first an act of destruction.
▬▬▬▬▬▬

Molly is one of the most friendly dragons in his clan. He’s always been that way. And while some members of his clan find some parts of him to be a bit much, especially his habit of hugging other dragons, they accept him, at the least. Back when his clan lived in the Southern Icefield, Molly would carve sculptures of guards to protect his clan from other clans nearby. Unfortunately, the sculptures scared his own clan members on so many occasions that the clan eventually made the decision to move to the Starfall Isles. It was difficult to move the entire clan, and it was hard to say goodbye to a place that had been known as home for quite some time. Molly blamed himself and wanted to leave the Isles, because it had been his sculptures that caused the problem in the first place, and he fell into a horrible depression.

This lasted quite some time, but then Molly realized that his new home wasn’t really that bad. The Starfall Isles were beautiful and full of strange magic, and they were extremely pink. Molly had always liked pink. After a time, his clanmates stopped blaming him for the move from the Ice flight to Arcane, and Molly slowly stopped blaming himself as well. He grew to enjoy his life once again, and acquired still more appreciation for his favorite color now that he lived in the midst of it.

Molly proceeded to continue living life to the fullest now that he was back to his usual self, and began the exploration of the area in earnest, as well as working on finding himself a new job for the clan since ice sculptures were no longer an option. He also returned to one of his favorite pastimes: lying in wait for dragons to pass by him and hugging them, often to the great irritation of the dragon on the receiving end of the hug.

It's okay to be scared. Being scared means you're about to do something really, really brave.

Molly scrambled up the steep white-and-pink stone slope, pausing occasionally to peer at a vein of rose quartz or to inspect a plant or creature. As he continued upward, he thought he heard a faint buzzing noise, like that of insect wings, and looked around quickly. He saw nothing, and shook his head to clear it, then continued on his way…

Only to hear the noise again a few moments later. Molly stopped short in the middle of his climbing to look around again, twitching his antennae and feathered crest in a worried way. That really sounded exactly like some sort of very large insect. A very large insect that probably wasn’t especially friendly. The noise slowly faded, away, and Molly continued climbing again, albeit somewhat slower.

Then, the noise suddenly was there again a few minutes later, louder than before and getting louder every second. Molly jumped and spun around, frantically looking for the source. Then it erupted from almost right beneath his feet. A large Tufted Leaf Beetle buzzed into the air from a hole in the ground, aiming straight for him. Molly let out a startled yelp - okay, maybe more like a strangled scream, though he’d never admit it - and turned tail, sprinting back down the slope he’d been coming up just seconds before, the beetle zigzagging after him in a very erratic fashion to match his own.

Molly didn’t stop even for an instant, or glance over his shoulder to see where the insect was, just kept running. He wound up tripping over his own feet, falling, and sliding a fair bit of the way down the mountain before he could get his talons back under him. Even when the noise had faded away, Molly kept going at a terrific pace until he reached the foot of the mountain. It had taken him a lot less time to run down there than it had to climb up. He collapsed on his stomach with a ‘oof’ and laid there, eyes half-closed. In his opinion, never before had he run into something so dangerous.
