In Greek mythology, Pontus (/ˈpɒntəs/; Greek: Πόντος Pontos, "Sea") was an ancient, pre-Olympian sea-god, one of the Greek primordial deities.

Pontus's Journey:

Pontus was born in Arcane, same as his mate Thalassa, but from much different clans. His clan focused a lot less on actual fishing and refused to allow him to swim till his heart was content. This didn't go well when he was young. He wanted to swim and get better fish, but the leaders left the fishing to dragons that--more or less--had no idea what they were doing. Pontus grew quiet and watching from a distance. He was calmer as he grew older, and also more distant. He didn't bond with his clan at all, and kept away from most of them in favor of his own hobbies. It wouldn't be too far off to say he was happy when he was sold to his new clan. He followed the guide through the air, keeping quiet and to himself, and they arrived to his new home quick enough.

He had little practice swimming, even though he loved the water, and was grateful when the leader of his new clan allowed him to practice before he went to work. Thankfully, he was a born natural and found the water to be more comforting than the ground or sky. He swam through the water like a snake, and joined Thalassa in hunting for fish with the rest of their party, both of them leading the charge. This was how his life was for the most part, hunting for fish quietly with Thalassa and enjoying the company of her and the large ocean. It was peaceful. The sound of the waves crashed back down into the water during a storm, the currents carrying him along.

Thalassa was a little too playful for him at first, her attitude about everything driving him near mad, but as the days went on and the longer they worked together, the more and more Pontus found himself loving her company. Her happy attitude and her playfulness helped him grow slightly more accustomed to the other dragons. His calmness also seemed to counter her anger when someone stroked her temper. While she ranted and raved before a swim, Pontus would listen quietly, his calm attitude seeming to seep into her and allow her to focus before their job. Then the ocean did the rest. Still, he enjoys keeping to himself most days and would rather go for relaxing swims than spend too much time around others, unless Thalassa is present to help counter his distant personality. The two make a rather good team.
