Filgoris faked his own death in order to make a new clan, called the Underground.

There is almost an entirely different lair underneath the Endless Dusk, a world that is led by democracy, despises the unfair monarchy that the Endless Dusk seems to have and wishes to overthrow it. In the Underground, dragons live next to Beastclans. The dragons there often have nowhere else to go and the Beastclans are often fleeing from clans who wish to exterminate them.

Some of the dragons there find the monarchy and Sirka's discrimination between dragons unfair and seek to overthrow him. Everwinter takes part in providing hospitality for the Beastclan members and Xenti cares for hatchlings, some of them refugees from clans with much political strife.
