Biography

"If your actions inspire others to dream more, learn more, do more and become more, you are a leader."
ORACLE
A priest or priestess acting as a medium through whom advice or prophecy was sought from the gods in classical antiquity.

Oracle was never destined to be a leader. Born in the Driftwood Drag to a small clan and even smaller family she has known nothing, but the shadows outside of her home. You'd assume that such a small clan wouldn't have difficulties, but it does. Shadowbinder enjoys playing tricks on this clan. Some are harmless, but others are disastrous. On one of these occasions a plague hit the clan, killing more than half and sickening others. Among the plague's victims were Oracle's parents. She was merely a child at the time and surviving members of her clan took pity on her told her that her parents went away for a bit. She hoped that they would return for many moons, but they never did come back. Oracle wanted nothing more than a chance to escape the blanket of fear and sadness that blanketed her home.

On an oh so sunny day a charming Guardian caught her eye. He introduced himself as Dretor, and they became friends soon after. Oracle later told him the horrors of what goes on in her clan and a few weeks later under the cover of his dark wings she escaped and followed him to the Foxfire Bramble. She fell in love with him, and they later had three beautiful children, but evil sunk its claws into her life once again. Dretor went mad. Oracle tried her best to make him stop, but it was useless. With two of their hatchlings in hand he dragged them with him to exaltion. The remaining child ran before she even had the chance to name him. Everyone knows that there's no use in trying to find anyone in the bramble and her son was never to be seen again. Oracle's already broken heart shattered.

Oracle wandered the Tangled Woods for months hoping that the Shadowbinder would take her too. To her dismay she never did. One day while wandering through the Driftwood Drag Oracle was spotted and taken in by a concerned clan. This clan was gifted in the art of magic, healing and war. They vowed to teach her all that they knew in return for her staying with them. Oracle, as they later learned was highly gifted with seer abilities. After months of hard training, Oracle emerged an entirely new dragon. Knowing they could teach her no more they sent her off to seek out the Arcanist to teach her more. As a parting gift they gave her a handmade scarf and a Gloomwillow Guide. A scarf that she has never taken off since. Full of determination Oracle set out.

Along the way Oracle met many, many dragons. Some that would lead to future children, but many that sought her to give them their fortune. Oracle earned herself a place in gossip and lore as most of her fortunes came true. Fear, wonder, jealousy and adoration followed her wherever she went and greeted her wherever she would go. After a long and strenuous trip the Observatory was finally in her sight. As her claws tapped against the base of the Observatory and the wind whispered it secrets Oracle knew that this island was home. The knowledge crafted into the land was hers to learn and hers to teach. Oracle closed her eyes and breathed in. She felt the magic around the Observatory as clearly as the blood rushing through her veins. This was what freedom felt like she though. To this day Oracle has never left the Arcanist's domain where even the strongest shadows of fear can't touch her.

Happy endings never do last, though. A plague carried by the wind swept through the Arcane domain wrecking havoc upon the land. The flowers of the Starwood Strand withered up and died. The plague lasted seven days and seven nights and not a cricket made a chirp through the nights. Many dragons from Oracle's clan died along with her hope of a safe life. What was left of them after the seven days fled with her to the Ice domain where the plague could not follow. Month after month the dragons slaved away to make a new home alongside the mountainside caverns. The dragon made structure sat just above a heat pocket, keeping the dragons warm through the long nights. On an especially long work day the dragons stumbled upon an ancient passageway the lead to a grand chamber below. Here Oracle found that she could still communicate with the ancestors that had guided her thus far. Perhaps living here won't be so bad after all.

A Tale of Sorrow

The roar of thunder holds a deathly secret,
For poison boils through its clouds.
To a small clan's fright it goes on through the night,
Leaving nothing in its path alive.
A child survived and gives out a cry,
That is only answered by the silence.
The child roams, desperate and alone,
With not a single soul in sight.
As dusk turned to dawn the child hurried along,
And at her side stood a ragged group that survived.
Desperate to be free she ran off with he,
Who told her lies that made time fly.
He took her to his home for a child she was no more,
And crushed her heart like a fly.
With their child in hand he took their lives from the land,
And she could only cry.
Without a hope she wandered again,
To find herself within in a loving hand.
They took her in and lifted her spirits,
So she was willing to fight again.
Off she went with a gift in hand,
To find her home in a new land.
Strangers came to stay and were never turned away,
For this was her clan.
