Tygaru, how did you become the beast trainer of Outfit Vector? Is there a story behind the lion skin you wear? And is there anything you can tell me about your clan's prosperity in the familiar trading/selling business?
Tygaru pauses in coiling the rope she’s got draped over one arm and gives you a quick once over. “That's certainly a mouthful of questions you have, stranger. It’s a wonder you can work your jaw around them.” She throws the coil over a fence post and crosses her arms, one claw ticking against her bicep. “The official line is that Outfit Vector is the largest familiar and Beastclan trading operation this side of a Thousand Currents, and I suppose that’s close enough to true. We service every flight in Sornieth, with caravan routes reaching from the wastes to three separate shores of the inland sea. If there’s territory where the business hasn’t made much headway it’s with those sap-lovers that hide beneath the Behemoth’s skirts, but then we don’t have much truck with those folk.” Tygaru hocks and spits, the arch and distance of it speaking to long years of practice.
"Having trouble with the new arrival?" Razaba smirked at her. The strange mirror grinned as well and Tygaru scowled at both of them.
"What is it, Razaba? Some of us have jobs that need doing."
"This is Executioner." Razaba indicated the black-clad mirror. "She's a messenger of a wind clan, come all the way from the Reedcleft Ascent. She's here to purchase a familiar on behalf of the familiar caretaker, Manda."
"If it's this Manda that be wanting a familiar why didn't she come her own self?"
"Well she would have," Executioner interjected, "except we heard Outfit Vector isn't overly fond of non-mirrors. It just so happens I'm a mirror, and a messenger, so the job fell to me."
"Fair enough. What familiar would you be wanting then?"
"A tame one." Executioner nodded toward the toridae still gnawing on the fence. "You do have tame familiars, I hope."
Razaba wiggled her crest in amusement and Tygaru took a firmer grip on her rope. Seeing the look, the chamberlain left them with a final amused snort. Tygaru turned back to Executioner. "No familiar is sold unless it's been tamed to an Inquisitive level or higher. You have my word on that. And Outfit Vector's guarantee. I'm guessing you won't be doubting that, otherwise you wouldn't have come all the way here."
"All the way here is right! Do you know how long this trip took me?" Executioner flared her orchid-colored wings and then resettled them with a grumble. "Don't know why Manda couldn't have gone to the local market to get her precious familiars."
Tygaru resisted the urge to grind her teeth. "The familiar you be wanting, then?"
"A wind familiar. One of the festival-exclusive ones. Presumably you can manage that."
"This way," Tygaru said, leading the way toward the familiar enclosures. "Mind you keep your claws to yourself. Some of the fresher beasts bite."
"Can't wait." Executioner mumbled under her breath, following along behind.

Executioner finally left Outfit Vector territory near sundown, towing the Hurricane Herald along behind her. She had a long way to go and the way through the Scarred Wasteland was rough, but she was in high spirits. Glancing at the Herald she couldn't help laughing to herself. She knew Manda had wanted a Gusting Goblin, but this would teach her to be more specific in her requests, and to maybe run her errands herself. Still chuckling at the mischief to come, Executioner made her way out of the wastes.
Wildbeast subspecies:
Wildbeast dragons originate from hybrids of Light and Earth dragons in the North and East of Sornieth, where they remain most common; struck by wanderlust, the first wildbeasts were outcasts from both flights, unfit for the sedentary life of monument-builders and classical scholars.
Once formed, the first wildbeast clans initially took refuge into the Veridian Labyrinth and this is the reason most wildbeasts developed a more primal nature than their flights of origin. They tend towards an ascetic lifestyle and are a nomadic breed, living in small to medium packs and never carrying more than necessary with them.
Wildbeasts do value the pursuit of truth more than other dragons, however they do not believe this should be confined to library halls or the study of ancient ruins; wisdom comes from all paths of experience. Lorekeepers and storytelling are essential to the preservation and transmission of wildbeast knowledge.
Morphs can vary depending on regions; colouration in particular tend to be influenced by habitat, with darker specimens occuring more often within the Veridian Labyrinth, while pale wildbeast dragons most frequent in the Sunbeam Ruins and Dragonhome.
