Biography

Cole The Visionarytumblr_o2wq01MvnL1ulofs2o10_500.png
"I know it hurts, so please, let me help. You are not alone."
EAgQOYH.gif His head was filled with voices and images constantly spinning around and making his mind dizzy while his tongue tried to find the right words to utter. Most of the time his speech was muddy and difficult to understand but his clan had patience. Such patience for the pearlcatcher who was powerful beyond his years. His purple eyes were not always open. Most of the time he was alone hidden beneath the darkness of his eyelids and while the rest of the world moved around him, Cole stayed put watching and waiting for anything to reveal itself.

It would come as a glimmer of light. The shadows around him would part for just a split second to show him a glimpse into the future. He would attempt to ask a question but then the light would disappear making him fall back into his black abyss. A particularly lonely life but one that was cherished by the introverted male. Nothing brought him more joy than being able to exercise his born skill in the clan and be praised by the ones who accepted him.

"She is dark, but also light. A soft light... Like the moon surrounded by the darkness of night..." Says the soft voice of the young Pearlcatcher. "She likes the dark though, it is apart of her and she is apart of it. Though...She does not want to be solely dark, that is why she struggles to also be light... 'Why struggle? Why suffer? Why not simply give? Why? Why?' are the questions that race about without an answer. Never an answer, never a true answer. 'They would not understand' is the thought, 'A little light is alright, but anymore and it is too strong. Too bright. Blinding. It will burn.' are the unspoken words. She cannot stand such strong light...But it is alright, she doesn't really need to be light. She only needs to be her. If she is her, then we will follow... We need not fear her darkness. For it is her and she is it... Our Lady Shale..." Cole finishes softly.

Familiar: Parvus

Like any hedgehog, Parvus can be pretty shy. Though, despite this, he's still very loyal. He seems in tune with Cole, often crawling over and nuzzling the dragon's leg whenever the dragon is feeling down.

Lore:

Born into shadow, he entered the world as a child of the dark. When he hatched, his nursemaids grew fearful at the void they saw as they gazed into his dark eyes. They squeaked and wailed to the clan elders that the child was cursed!

The head elder scoffed softly as they followed the nursemaids to the new hatchling. The elder sat before the nest and raised the child by the scruff, holding it before the moon. The moon's light shimmered against the child's pearl, the surface of the sacred item swirling from ivory to pitch.

"This child is not cursed but blessed. The dark: it is mother and guardian." The elder replaced the hatchling into the nest and stroked a claw between its abysmal eyes. The strange hatchling did not respond more than making a small squeak.

As Cole grew, so did the paths in the dark. Once he was mature, a new voice would cry out and whisper through the dark to him each passing month. Untrained and confused, he ran from his home into the shadowlands. Though, sadly, he could not escape the dark within the dark.

Far from home, he collapsed, exhausted and confused. Frustration ate at him, tears springing forth into his inky eyes. He curled up upon the dark earth, curling about his pearl as a sob escaped him. The sacred object was dark as obsidian, having never returned to its true color. It was a constant source of confusion and gossip about the clan. Now it was just another torment to add to his confusion.

Then, as he lay there, a sound so soft reached his ears. It was the soft flutter of wings as a small bird landed upon his shoulder. At its touch, the screaming voices melted down to whispers and the dark receded from his vision. He gasped as he saw the world clearly for the first time. It was so amazing but the only thing that held his true attention was the small creature on his shoulder.

He looked to his side and laid his gaze upon a stunning white dove. At the sight of it, his tail twitched happily and he smiled for the first time he could remember. He reached up a claw to gently touch its head, the little creature happily allowing it. As it leaned into his touch, his pearl swirled from dark to light as he gasped aloud in shock. The shift of the pearl went unnoticed as a severe case of vertigo engulfed him.

Voices, animal cries, and unconnected images swirled before his eyes. His eyes widened as each twisting image whispered secrets into his soul. It was a feeling so distorting, so addicting! A string of babbling gibberish tumbled from his muzzle, yet each piece of the puzzle within his mind spread forth like a cobblestone road.

It was twisted and confusing but the most amazing thing he had ever felt. Nonsensical images flashed before his mind and suddenly he gasped as it was all gone. He was left within the cloak of shadow once more yet a single image looped in his mind's eye. He could see a weak little kitten wounded and dying in the shadowlands. His heart broke and his spirit ached.

"Lead me to the truth, Sweet Alba!" He cried out as he raised his pearl to the moon. Though he had not named it, the dove know that he was speaking to it. It cooed softly and took to the skies. The magic within his pearl was drawn to the white dove, leading Cole to follow the feathered creature. He took to the skies as well without hesitation.

Their flight did not take long and soon the soft mewls of the hurt kitten cut through the voices that had started once more. Without hesitation, Cole tenderly scooped up the baby creature and flew as fast as he could back to his clan's healer. As he flew, his pearl swirled back to onyx now that its task was done.

In the end, the healer had saved the kitten. Then, as if knowing that Cole was its reason for life, the tiny creature began to follow him and Alba everywhere. It grew attached and loyal, never straying.

With his new companions claiming their loyalty to him. The voices and darkness within began to make sense. The peace from Alba's touch brought visual clarity within the visions while Rolo's mewling brought sense to the jumbled mess within his mind. Though Cole still said each fleeting and disconnected piece of his puzzle path as it appeared, he now no longer spoke in gibberish. Rolo's grounding allowed him to speak in words that others understood, allowing them to decode what visions that Cole spoke but did not stay with him.

The elder that had proclaimed him blessed at birth became very pleased with the dragon that Cole had grown into. He presented the young dragon his own hut where he could sit and dwell within the visions and voices with his two friends by his side.
