Sapphire

Sapphire is a co-leader with her mate, Specter. She offers a voice of wisdom to his sometimes reckless ways and balances him out. A natural leader herself, she makes sure things run smoothly in the clan and is always happy to talk to the members about various issues and give comfort or advice. She isn't quick to fight, but if the need arises, she will wield her sword with unparalleled grace and skill.

Sapphire is a gentle, kind, and caring dragon. At the same time though, she is a tough, fiery tomboy who is happy to beat the boys in any game. She is fiercely loyal and loves her mate and the entire Kurokage Clan. She is a very skilled fighter and a wise counseller. She is a good friend, and a role model and mentor, especially for the young female dragon in the clan.

Sapphire grew up in a strict military clan and learned to be well disciplined and smart. She was an avid learner, and her teachers loved teaching her. It surprised many when her best friend turned out to be the wild, naughty Specter. Born on the same day, the two were quick friends, and Sapphire was always one-upping Specter, making him very mad indeed. They terrorized their clan together, but Sapphire also had a lick of sense and would attend to her studies and classes, unlike Specter, who would usually blow them off entirely. As they grew up, Sapphire realized her best friend had become more than a playmate, and she desired to spend the rest of her life with him. Despite this realization, she was too shy to tell Specter. He was a dense, thick-headed dragon, and she doubted he saw her as anything more than that. So, she kept her mouth shut, and just continued being his friend.

When Specter asked her to marry him and start a clan with him, it came as a great surprise indeed! She was overjoyed that he felt the same way she did and quickly said yes. They were married and given a blessing to go out and start their own clan. Thus, the adventure began.

At first, the going was tough. They searched endlessly for the perfect place to call home. During their search, they met a wise nomadic tundra named Couture. They were both traveling in the same direction, and so while they walked, they got to know each other a bit. Sapphire was stuck by the Nomad as she listened eagerly to stories of the many adventures and experiences the small dragon had. He was very smart and clearly seemed to take a liking to her young, fiery mate. When they reached a small village, Specter asked Couture to be the first dragon to join their new clan. At first, they thought he would say no, but to their surprise, he agreed.

To celebrate the first member of the clan, the trio stopped in the village and bought a variety of foods to enjoy. When they had finished their feast, they made their way out of the village. As they neared the edge, a pretty golden skydancer was roughly tossed out of a bar and into the street. A grisly, mean looking wildclaw followed, raising a stick to bash the poor girl. Specter quickly stepped in and detained the dragon, forcing him through brute strength to walk away. Meanwhile, Sapphire comforted the terrified dragon, trying to calm her down.

After she had composed herself, they learned her name was Nefera. She had been working as a server for that terrible dragon just to be able to eat. She had broken some dishes, and that had sent the wildclaw in a flying fury. Now, she didn’t know where to go or what to do. Sapphire gently offered for Nefera to join their clan, and live with them as they journeyed to find a home. Nefera quickly agreed and became the fourth member of the ragtag band, and later she grew to be her closest friend and confidant.

As they continued on their journey, they made it to the Scarred Wasteland. It was a desolate place, with more bones than living creatures. However, they did meet one dragon here in this place of death. He seemed out of place, his white scales and silver wings contrasting greatly with the red hues surrounding them. A strange creature flapped sporadically after him, and none could quite figure out what it was. They caught up with him and asked him his name. To their surprise, he didn’t answer but started drawing in the dirt. This is when they figured out he was called Dril, and he was mute. Through a bit more stunted conversation, they learned he was a builder and was pretty much just aimlessly wandering around after being fired from his job for his inability to speak. Specter knew how valuable a builder would be once they found the right place and started building, and he offered the coatl a place with them. Dril was touched and agreed to help them build their home.

During their trek through the wastelands, they happened upon a massive, natural cave deep in the Rotrock Rim. The cave stretched on for miles underground, and Specter envisioned a beautiful paradise right here in the midst of death and destruction. So, the group of five got to work creating a home in the inhospitable cauldron of disease. The building was slow, but by the time a year had passed, they had turned the cave into an amazing retreat. The entrance was converted into a massive great room. There was a library, food storage, vault, and rooms for many residents. They had built an amazing greenhouse under a glass dome to grow food and plants in the middle of the plague. There were also barns for livestock, and training rooms to practice fighting. They had finally realized their dream and now the newly named Kurokage Clan was finished. And all that was needed were more dragons to fill the empty halls.
