Biography

7888.png 7580.png 114.png 15123.png

Practically a legend outside the clan, very little is known of Alex. The rumors tell of a vicious creature with deadly claws and burning eyes, feral rage simmering beneath a dragon's skin. Cold and baleful, he haunts the boneyards of the plaguelands, killing anything unlucky enough to cross his path.

A different story is told inside the clan, although it's not much clearer. Alex keeps to himself. He avoids unnecessary contact and will often fly off if a dragon won't leave him be. As such, few dragons in the clan actually know much about him, despite his role as de facto leader (might, after all, is the respected law of the Scarred Wasteland, and he has that in spades.) All they've gleaned is that he was completely submerged in the Wyrmwound at some point, and that the dragon who did this to him is definitely not around anymore.

Whatever the incident was, it certainly didn't do any favors for his attitude. While he'll look after any dragon that joins his flock, he's gruff and prefers to threaten rather than cajole his followers into line, and he's downright vicious when it comes to external threats. He prefers to deal with problems personally, especially of the kind that can be handled with violence, and he seems happiest when in the midst of tearing through his enemies' entrails - an unsettling enough sight when on his side, to say little of the unfortunate dragon who ends up next in line. He has a strong aversion to purified water, an even stronger one to Light magic, and a tendency to sprout fleshy black tentacles in combat - most likely a souvenir from his exposure to the Wyrmwound. He's reckless in battle, and bloodthirsty to the point of carelessness, but his injuries always seem to grow back, from shorn scales to shorn limbs. There's some question as to what he even is; nobody's ever seen him eat or sleep. But he's not one to relinquish his secrets, and challenging him for them has only ever ended a single way.

Further confounding the issue are his doppelgangers. The domain he's staked out is massive - as the number of dragons under his dubious protection grew, so too did the stretch of plaguelands necessary to sustain them. The territory was too large for any dragon to hold, even one such as he... which might be why a whole cadre of Guardians with his colors, lack of parentage, and utter unwillingness to explain themselves showed up one day and started carrying out his duties in tandem.

They rarely speak. Sometimes they'll shift breeds, leaving for patrol a Skydancer and coming back a Ridgeback. While they - or he - have never confirmed that they're the same being, better explanations are in short supply.

For all of his eldritch nature, he still retains some trappings of his time as an ordinary dragon. Perhaps the only proof that he was once a Guardian, and not some Wyrmwound nightmare disguised as one, is that he has a ward like any other - the Tundra, Dana. He acts like an entirely different dragon around her, deferent and even bashful, but woe betide anyone that so much as looks at her funny. Attempting to use her as leverage against him, several unwise dragons have found out, is an express ticket to the afterlife.

WOW that's a lot of Alex Mercers. Prototype was an awesome game, happy to see people who still appreciate it.

You have a LOT of Alex Mercers! If I could pick all of them at once, I would! They all look so good and do a great job of representing him! I've always thought Prototype looked like a ton of fun. I never got the chance to play any of the games, but hopefully I will soon TvT

You are really dedicated to your Prototype fandragons. Youve got a lot of them. I saw a bunch of other fan dragons in there too, but it took me a min to realize that you had an entire Prototype tab. I watched a few lets plays of the games over the years, and the story is rad.

Oh my god, thank you so much for your kind words on Rusl! They really made my day and made all the effort I put into him worth it :'3 The Blacklight is 100% a Prototype reference and I'm glad you spotted it ;)

Then again, judging by your signature how couldn't you? It's the child of Redlight after all. (I swear though, Elizabeth Greene was the bane of my existence for at LEAST 30 minutes... probably way more since I've played through Prototype multiple times.)

Aaaaand.... I'm gonna have to claim because I see a certain tab I simply MUST choose from!

I am now legally obligated to like every single last one of your Alex Mercer fandragons!

However, this boy here and his bio have got to be my favorite. I absolutely adore how you wrote him into Flight Rising lore and there's just so much about him that I've come to love. Obviously, you got the appearance down with his pale eyes and dark coloration (therefore matching his hair and apparel in the games real well) However, that addition of red in his wings is absolutely stunning and really stands out in the best of ways. Blood Saturn is an obvious representation to the Blacklight Virus and the Proto wings are not only a good subtle nod to the Prototype games but also assists in bringing out that infected look which occurs whenever Alex reconfigures his own body (in other words shapeshifts) in order to blend in and/or use his powers. Then of course you have the Earthly Onyx set to give it that dark inky plague like look around the legs. All of that's before you even get into his lore! Which-by the way-perfectly reflects his personality and canonical lore! From his vicious and downright frightening nature to his attentive protectiveness of his sister Dana. You've got the clones which are likely extensions of the Blacklight itself and his love of fighting (which according to canon lore for Alex is something that he not only enjoys greatly but he is also a fan of marital arts). There's just so much about this one fanderg that is accurate and stunning that I could probably rant about him for hours! Oh, and of course you got that hysterical quote which is absolutely amazing combined with a-what is this-CUSTOM skin!? There was clearly a lot of time and effort which you put into this fanderg and it shows in your attention to detail. My own Alex most definitely says hello. :D

Edit: Forgot to mention his regenerative capacity which is an obvious no brainer to those of us who have played (or at least know about) Prototype :D
