Lucian's father Lanevior was a travelling dragon who stayed with the "Heirs" for quite a while. This was mainly because he got quite fond of Siren, their singing courier (and eventually mother of Lucian), and because of his children. Although Lanevior clearly didn't plan to settle down somewhere he at least wanted to make sure that his hatchlings grew up with a father.

In their childhood days, Lanevior took his three kids on short journeys through the Windswept Plateau. Two of them eventually found a new place to stay but Lucian always wanted to return home at the end of the day. He still learned a lot on these little trips - their father taught the little hatchlings everything about surviving in the wilds, gathering useful things and enjoying nature as a whole.
When Lucian grew up he was allowed to go on hunting trips with his father and he eventually realised that this was the thing he wanted to do for the clan.

After Lanevior continued his journey, Lucian became quite the skilled hunter. He still uses most of the tricks he learned from his father, but polished them to almost perfection.
He became a serious and responsible guy, but also quite distant to most other dragons. This is probably due to the fact that he was - from three children - closest to his father and still struggles with his absence. He most likely doesn't want to form any kind of close bond, for he knows how "saying goodbye" can hurt.
