Biography
Strong | Silent | Confident
Strong and silent, prefers actions to words. Is usually a loner, but he and Stoneflight decided to create a clan when their Protectorates were placed extremely close to each others', hers being Diadem Caverns and his specifically the tidal pools leading to it. Approx. human age: 20-27 |

The clan of the Diadem Caverns is made up of a group of outcasts and rejects who stumbled upon the entrance to the Diadem Caverns in the Tsunami Flats. The clan's founders are a pair of Guardians whose Charge-seeking led them each individually to two specific points within the cave system.
Since then, the Diadem Caverns have been slowly inhabited by a growing clan; while exploring, the clan's members have discovered connection all around the Sea of a Thousand Currents, with additional entrances in the cliffs of the Leviathan Trench (almost all "surface" connections have been found to reside either on its eastern or western sides). The clan's major dens, hoards, vault, and nesting grounds are currently located closer to this end as it is better protected, but they are subject to move at any time, and not every member uses the semi-communal sleeping areas. In addition to the main sprawling system, the clan holds a modest amount of aboveground land in the Tsunami Flats for ease of access, those struck with sudden claustrophobia or a desire to get fresh air, and things that cannot, in good conscience, be held underground. (In the most memorable event, a member once attempted to set off fireworks in the largest known cavern. One can guess how well that went.)
Diadem Caverns as a cave systemhas been suspected of being able to connect up with cave systems from Water's surrounding Flights and, perhaps, all of Sorneith (similarly to the Forgotten Cave), but its members do not wish to seek these connections out; Water Flight values its secrecy as much as its god, and the caves could easily become a weak point in an invasion, should any outsiders be alerted to their forays into other territory.
The most popular cave routes are mapped and illuminated (by electricity whenever possible, sometimes by magic, and sometimes naturally from roofs that allow light to filter through), with a scrying-based messaging system that connects its major outlets and locales, and it is ventilated accordingly. Anything in danger of collapse has been reinforced with borrowed Earth Flight techniques.
Its lowest recorded point is 601 meters beneath the Sea, with much to be explored both above and below it.
The crystal formations for which the Cavern's name is derived are mostly semi-precious in nature and are concentrated in huge, ballroom-to-palace-sized rooms within its systems. Its connecting tunnels have different levels of crystal formation; some are so inundated that their floors had to be carved from the abundance of crystal spikes, some are sprinkled with the odd cluster lining the walls, while still others are nearly devoid of crystals altogether.
In deference to the Diadem Caverns' Guardians and the nigh-solitary nature of most of its inhabitants, its crystals are left almost entirely intact unless their removal is absolutely necessary. Preservation of the Diadem Caverns is of utmost importance to its members, and no mining or excavating purely intended for profit is allowed; in fact, this cavern is not well-known outside of its clan, and its members prefer it that way.
As the clan consists mostly of loners and those estranged from society, it does not grow much nor with great frequency. Many of its members have grown closer together as the passage of time has brought them both great joy and hardships. In recent times, there has been a clan-wide effort to unify a bit more strongly; bi-weekly clan meetings are becoming the new norm and its members more interested in the trade of battling in the Coliseum, exalting, and exploring the outside world.
However, between vast underground reservoirs of both salt and fresh water, the native ecosystems (supplemented by the naturalization of foreign species), intense physical and magical fortification, and studies into gaining electrical and planting self-sufficiency, these excursions to the outside world are not strictly necessary.
As times become more dangerous for the Water Flight, there has been an increased interest in learning or re-learning how to fight, leading to the formation of the Council of 25--a group of dragons who are skilled in fighting and strive to mentor interested others in battle techniques. Upon reaching the end of their training, any dragon automatically becomes a member of the Council. The end goal of the group is that all or most of the clan be among its members. It is spearheaded by Ivytangle, Petalmoon, Firestar, and Varuni.
As times change and the ever-growing maw of society encroaches, the clan has expanded its views: it now offers temporary housing.
