Bubblegum saw worshipping the Cloud as the most beneficial route of life. Originally raised in a peaceful clan, she soon realized verbal diplomacy wasn't always enough. Leaving her original clan when she first heard about the Cloud, because she liked the idea of protection without unnecessary violence.
As a hatchling, her life was pretty good, but as she got older, life quickly became boring and mundane. The prospect of taking up a job in the lightning region wasn't something she was ever interested in, even though she was often encouraged to try out different jobs.
Giving other jobs a fair shot, she still found that none of them really satisfied her. She loved her clan, and wanted to help it, but nothing she tried felt satisfactory. Her friends tried to give her suggestions, but none of them ever seemed to work.
While not working, she started to take an interest in magic. Her clan had always been against the idea of fighting, but practising magic - even the offensive spells, was something that at the very least, she could enjoy. She kept her abilities to herself however, generally telling others she was studying magical theory instead of the spells themselves. Even so, most dragons had assumed she had found her purpose within the clan and let her be. Bubblegum herself had thought this too for awhile.
Bubblegum refuses to go into detail about the incident to any other dragons, and likes to avoid it in conversation. Other dragons in her clan have occasionally tried to talk to her about it, but she'd always refuse.
After the incident, she wanted to seek some sort of enlightenment, and found the spirituality of the Cloud as intriguing. She liked the dark region that shadow's land presented, and after some consideration, decided to join it. The Starlight Circle was looking for someone who could help defend the clan, and that was right up Bubblegum's alley.
Working together with Northstar and Valve, she finally felt like she had friends who understood her. Because of this, she's fairly dedicated to the cloud, and everything the Starlight Circle stands for.
