OPAL FEATHER

B I O G R A P H Y

OpalFeather was not born of this clan. He was found by Moonbeam when he set out to find abandoned hatchlings. Opal was found first, and later he was brought back to Moonbeam's lair along with ThunderPearl, a Wildclaw, and InkMoon, a Skydancer. At first ForestSong- Moonbeam's mate- was shocked to wake up to three alien hatchlings in her lair. Forest and Moonbeam had just seen their first clutch of hatchlings leave the den- and now Moonbeam had brought in three more! OpalFeather and ThunderPearl got along exceptionally well. Opal reviled to Thunder that he didn't want to leave, and so Thunder agreed to stay with him. InkMoon eventually left to serve under the Windsinger, a high prestigious honor she had been studying for all her life. Opal and Thunder took to other devises, Opal taking up alchemy and Thunder beginning to take up tinkering with all sorts of machines.

One day there was an accident with the brew Opal was working on- causing a terrifying explosion. Everything went white. Then red. And then darkness. Opal woke up to a flurry of panicked dragons and a feeling of numbness in his legs. He spluttered and coughed as a frenzied ForestSong explained what had happened: the explosion knocked him backwards causing him to crash against a bookcase. Falling to his side, the heavy shelf and all of it's contents had crashed onto Opal's lower body- seriously injuring his legs. It was deemed he may have never been able to walk again. Thunder was worried by this- laying by Opal's side as he made his recovery. But after a point Thunder could stand it no longer- he ventured out and collected (and "borrowed") supplies. Thunder constructed boots that would have allowed Opal to use his legs again- and worked they did. For his noble work, the Windsinger requested that Thunder work under him. Thunder told no one- and left silently in the night- for he couldn't bare to tell Opal of this.

Saddend by Thunder's sudden leave, Opal fell deep into his work. He became cold and distant to the other dragons, his stoic attitude intimidating others. Moonstone, a Pearlcatcher who's bright white pelt seemingly shone, one day approached Opal. This surprised Opal- as he knew Pearlcatchers weren't very fond of Imperials. Moonstone said she was a new member of the clan, and she wished to make peace to all there. Opal at first was not keen on the idea- but as he spent time with Moonstone, they began to become very good friends. Moonstone encouraged Opal to use his vast knowledge to school young hatchlings in all manors of things. He now spends his days encouraging hatchings to learn and explore the world around them.

P E R S O N A L

Opal has only had one clutch of hatchlings himself. He had a polyamorous relationship with ThunderPearl and OceanSong. Turquoise, a Ridgeback, left early in her life to serve the Gladekeeper. Articuno went out to find another clan, and he hasn't written to Opal since. Opal assumes the best of him and is proud of both of his children. ThunderPearl's two children, Cookie and Morgain, serve the Lightweaver and Plaguebringer respectively. OceanSong later joined Cookie with serving the Lightweaver.

Opal has found a number of cures for various ailments. An example of this is how he was born with Gembond, a condition that causes various crystalline formations across the body of the patient. Caused by the Onyx Cobra, Gembond is a byproduct of it's venom, which seemingly manipulates the Genes of the victim. This trait is then in turn able to be passed onto hatchlings of infected parents. In time it was considered to be another trait like Okapi-like markings or the appearance of Spines running down one's back. Opal however, found a way to get rid of the Gembond, and now looks into implementing Runes onto his skin to enhance his magical ability. ForestSong tells him it's a little ambitious though.

The relationship between OpalFeather and Moonstone is a little odd. The two see each other as good friends, though Copper tease the two constantly about baring a clutch. This of course flusters Opal quite a bit but Moonstone laughs it off. The two have a strong, sibling like bond- which is odd for others to see an Imperial and Pearcatcher get along so well together.

Opal secretly still misses ThunderPearl. There was a lot Opal felt he never said to Thunder before he left. He hopes that maybe one day, he'll get a letter or acknowledgment from wherever he is. Opal hopes to once again find the dragon he loves.
