Sear

Sear is part of the clan's vanguard, charging forward into battle with no though for his own safety. He is fast and powerful, able to barrel through enemy lines without them even knowing he was there. All that is ever noticed is a flash of red and a spray of blood. Unlike most Bogsneaks, Sear is actually an amazing flyer, having trained himself to be as swift in the air as he is on the ground. It takes a lot of food to fuel that, though, and he can only sustain flight for short periods of time. But just like a falcon, he is quick and maneuverable,

He greatly admires Hellbender for his ability to fight, which is what inspired him to join the ranks. Hellbender has taken enough of a shine to the like-minded boy that he quickly brought him into the fray and became his mentor. Sear has become so passionate for everything that Hellbender stands for he even began dressing in a kilt of his own. Of course, Hell's teaching could only go so far; having no magic of his own, nor being able to fly like Sear, there came a point where Hell encouraged Sear to train with others who would be able to help him hone those abilities far better than he ever could. Sear knew just how hard it was for Hell to send him off, not because of any soppy sentiment he held towards him, but because of his stubborn pride; it took all of Hell's strength to admit that he would not be able to teach him any of those skills, even though they both knew from the get-go that such would be the case. Hell had never been shy about his flightlessness, both on the wing as well as magically, but it still pained him to ever admit to being incapable of anything.

Sear studied with the Skydancers in the clan to learn more about how to control himself better when flying. He impressed his teachers greatly with his innate skill, not needing much advice on how to improve. He has tried to pass this on to other Bogsneaks in the clan, and though they certainly try with all their might, they just don't have the gift that Sear does. None of them are able to come even remotely close to the kind of aerobatic prowess he has, but his teaching has definitely given them some improvement in their previously weaker flying. Canadensis is his most devoted student, wanting desperately to become as good a flyer as he is and someday even surpass him. She admires the benchmark he sets for her as the best flying Bogsneak she has ever seen yet.
