Lore ideas for astros: he became infatuated with the clan's arcane rep, cassiopeia, and wanted to get into astronomy to woo her; he worked with savil and was okay with it? He did love it, but it wasn't necessarily his calling. Maybe something happens and cassiopeia turns him down or something, but he feels lost... and then ends up starting to play music and never really realizes how good he is at it until someone points it out to him. But then he eventually discovers music is his passion? Maybe he was playing music since he was little but never took it seriously? Like was a child prodigy. Tevinter and nightqueen are dancers so when they saw Astros was good at music they wanted to encourage that, but after piper wanting Nothing to do with music or performing, and after seeing how everything unfolded with orre and citrine, they didn't wanna push it and let him do astronomy. Since savil and tevinter are dating anyway, Astros naturally became close with his dad and took after him, but was close to both his parents. Anyway maybe he finally embraces music and his parents were like "we knew it all along, it's in your blood"
Regarding cassiopeia, there are a few options. Whether or not she influenced him or her rejection inspired him, maybe seeing him awaken with his own passion and calling makes her feel things? Either 1. She ends up falling in love once she sees him as him (cliche), 2. She had been waiting for him to find himself and knew it too and now she loves him (cliche but less so), 3. She had been waiting but astros says "no, it's okay, I admire you but I was infatuated, but I love you as a friend" and they become best friends
