Biography

Tru

Patissiere, n. - maker of magic by the process of adding sweet ingredients to mundane edibles

Presides over the heart of the lair, site of warm ovens, wide counters and a regular revolution of dragons bearing in raw tribute with the hopeful query, "Think you could make something with this?" and spiriting out finished products that no longer hold her attention.

The (night-and-)daily routine of create, test taste, put in oven and conk out until time to take out has resulted in her achieving two rare feats among spirals: consistent full weight and a predictable sleep schedule. The kitchen floor accordingly is padded and muscle memory even ensures she never drapes over cleaned surfaces or sharp corners when crashnapping.

Calcifer fell in love at first sight and immediately threw himself into wooing, as grandly as possible, with great enthusiasm and whole-hearted sincerity and without sparing thought to seek any advice about timing. Or sense. Or taste. She eventually had to forbid him all further attempts at poetry or romantic phrasing unless it came from Yu, which resulted in much better declarations like "love you Truly madly deeply" and "you are my world, my Tru," and the wooing continues.

(Why should that stop just because they're together, she enjoys the spectacle as much as the rest of the lair.)

Went through frequent spates of torpid bad temper as a fledgling, with the eventual diagnosis "should have eaten an hour ago." That didn't actually change much, as like many spirals she'd forget about food in pursuit of more engrossing interests, and irregular meals resulted in unreliable and even absent sense of hunger.

The tundra baker stepped in with a challenge to go blindfolded for a month. Being blindfolded magically slowed time to a crawl what with not being able to do anything anymore, as well as somehow made most of her favorite foods not taste as good.

Except in Ranny Maggie's kitchen, where the old tundra pointed out just how many things had scents she could pay attention to instead and encouraged her to taste anything that smelled good.

Boredom (and curiosity) led her to taste everything. Curiosity (and boredom) led her down the taproot of exploring how scents changed in the baking process and what tastes resulted from different combinations of scents. By the time the blindfold came off she'd found a vocation and mentor.

Left the Labyrinth due to a common outcome of first love, traveled on through the discovery of varying native spices and cooking methods, and finally settled in the Plateau and Wanderin after meeting Dinky, who's happy to source and barter for any ingredients she wants along with keeping wisps out for new ones.

Truly had a nice, clean, orderly pastry kitchen, and then the skycat migration came through and left one feline that will not go out. Every time she evicts him she turns around and he's back in again.

She can work around it though, she's a tried and true professional. An incremental hike in ingredients and finished goods as sacrifices to pay for Marmalade keeping out mice, corraling Nix's stoats, and drawing fire from sticky-fingered hatchlings.

(He'll accept all forms of attention and affection, but does not share the pastries, and will employ any means necessary of distraction. As loss prevention goes his presence is actually overall a tiny net gain if one ignores his own shameless pilfering.)

Pillow-Skink-Mantis.png Truly paid Remy with a cupcake from a new recipe for a few hours of advertising for her shop. He came back to give her a Pillow of Friendship because apparently that recipe is too good not to tip.

She shouldn't, really, there's no need, but he was just so cute about it... (She added to those cupcakes the label "Remy Approved.")
