Description:
Moraine is a friendly and tenacious tundra who founded Florabrisa along with her closest friends Tarragon, Zaffre and Tamarind, who share responsibility as leaders for the clan. Moraine, who prefers working behind the scenes and always dreamt of running her own restaurant, took charge of food service within Florabrisa's community, wanting to provide easy-access meals to anyone who came to Florabrisa. No one goes hungry under her watch!

Possibly the least social among the four leaders, Moraine strongly values her alone time and prefers working in smaller groups. A bit of a homebody, she doesn't venture out to the gardens as often as her husband Tarragon. Instead, she likes to relax with a good book or put together puzzles in the calm of her own space (though the occasional visit from Tarragon to water their plants is nice too.)

Role:
Having worked in a variety of restaurants before founding Florabrisa, Moraine has a diverse culinary skill set that she puts to good use. She loves to experiment and try new things, but does her best to keep up with consistent staples for dragons with less adventurous tastes too. Of the different areas she's trained in, she is most fond of baking and takes pride in having fresh pastries ready.
She often bakes with her young assistant and adoptive son Keiji.

Moraine loves to bring together different dragons through the pleasure of group meals, and encourages the clan to eat together when possible. During the Mistral Jamboree, she enlists help from other dragons to go all out for the week long festival, making sure every dragons' taste buds are satisfied. Though she's vegetarian, she's no stranger to making foods that cater to other dragons' diets as well - she takes pride in her strong stomach that she's put through a lot in the name of taste-testing meals.

Moraine takes feedback from other dragons very seriously - not just about food, but the direction of the clan as a whole. Moraine often is the one to schedule and organize meetings among the other leaders to discuss plans of action for Florabrisa, in addition to monthly community-wide meetings where every dragon can offer their own input.

Personality:
Moraine is very friendly, though can be quite stubborn and won't tolerate nonsense from others for very long. She has a fairly limited supply of social energy, and will often hide in her room when she needs to check out.

She's very prideful of her culinary skills and work ethic: she has a habit of keeping herself busy and even using work as a distraction. At times she pushes herself too hard, but thankfully other dragons are happy to fill in for her needed so she can get the rest she needs when she comes too close to burning herself out.

Moraine has a penchant for deadpan humor which can make it hard to know whether or not she's being sincere at times - and she's very good at keeping up the act. She'll give it up only when she thinks the act is no longer funny... which sometimes means she'll never give it up.

Background:
Moraine comes from a big family of non-magical Ice tundras, though as her green eyes indicate, she was hatched in the Windswept Plateau. An only child, she grew up in Galven, a large city nestled in the gentle Zephyr Steppes. Moraine was a precocious child - a good student, quiet, never causing any problems. She always felt a bit different from her Windie friends - they all seemed far more adventurous and energetic than her. Regardless, she loved life in her Wind City. Always having had a rather large fondness of food and wanting to have control of her own culinary choices, she developed her passion for baking quite early in her life, and always dreamed of running her own bakery some day.

As she grew up, she continued studying the culinary arts, learning new techniques and trying out whatever recipes caught her fancy. Running her own bakery felt like a rather lofty goal, so she got her foot in the door picking up jobs at local restaurants, where she hoped to prove herself in the field before she could be far enough along to have her own business. Even while working, she continued studying at home to keep her baking skills sharp for her planned future.

However, approaching her mid-twenties, things got rough for Moraine. She found herself increasingly stressed by her workload, with bosses that made her work for harder than was the meager pay she got, with hardly any recognition of her impressive skills. Likewise, her social life seemed to be falling apart with more and more of her childhood friends moving elsewhere in life as Wind dragons were prone to do, while she stayed in her native city building her career. Along the way, she befriended Zaffre when they briefly worked in the same restaurant, but Zaffre too moved on from Galven. Finally, Moraine felt everything had finally come crashing down when her father passed away and her mourning mother permanently moved back to the Southern Icefield, leaving Moraine with nobody but herself for support. With much difficulty, she did what she could to continue on her intended career path, but her heart wasn't quite in it the same as it had been. She never felt more alone.

Then one day, Moraine was cooking in her restaurant like any other night, when a waiter handed her a napkin with a note written on it from a customer. It was a simple letter, thanking her for preparing the delicious meal, but she was used to her talents being ignored and was uniquely touched by the experience. She kept the napkin for herself and continued on, feeling a tiny bit more positive than she had before. Over the following month, letters like that happened a few more times until finally she came out to thank the dragon who had been writing them - a small, white tundra named Tarragon who had been coming to her restaurant on dates with the orange guardian Tamarind, and soon they were a trio of very close friends. While Tarragon and Tamarind's romance did not last, Moraine's support kept them all together as friends. Of course, Moraine didn't want to admit she had been crushing on Tarragon since the day she met him, but before she knew it, she ended up asking him out and they have been together ever sense.

After a couple more years, Moraine's absentee friend Zaffre suddenly showed back up in the city and, after being introduced to Moraine's new companions, got together with Tamarind. Before long, the four best friends founded Florabrisa, a place where they could all live out their dreams together.

Favorites:
Moraine has a strong love of the culinary arts, and trying new and exciting foods. But she always comes back to her old favorites: croissants and cinnamon rolls! Outside of cooking, Moraine likes to spend her free time alone, with quiet activities. Reading, putting puzzles together, or even just relaxing in bed makes for an ideal day off for her.

Moraine is an active member of Lisianthus's book club, perhaps taking the book part of the club more seriously than most of the other members. Moraine usually is the one who gets the rest to focus on the discussion of books, though she'll occasionally discuss the clan's affairs as well. Some gossip is just too good to resist.

Appearance:
Moraine is a fat mid-size tundra of average height and length. Her Ice genes run strong, with her naturally cool colors and stocky build. She has a rounded face, with extra fluffy ears and horns that curve downwards. Her blonde mane is in a constant state of flatness thanks to her favorite hat. Her fur is coarse, especially in the winter.

Moraine has a simple taste in fashion, preferring more practical, plain outfits - though she can't help but love whatever jewelry and silks Tarragon has picked out for her. Tired of having to cover her whole face in hairnets, she believes her witch hat is more than enough to keep her food fur free. (Any stray strands that fall in are clearly Keiji's.)
